This particular HI had more of a boarding house feel, with lounge and waiting areas more like doctors waiting rooms, than comfortable inviting areas that would stir people to interact. Nonetheless, if you are looking for solitude or a quiet lodging experience this may still not be the one for you. Staff are extremely friendly and do a great job,...

Cheap hostel, big unisex dorms (40 beds) but well separated, big clean bathrooms with showers and toilets. The lounge include free pool table and babyfoot. Tv room is small and few dvd available. Kitchen is huge. Could have been better with more people around.

This HI hostel does not compare with other HIs I have visited but as the title says you get what you pay for. Inexpensive and clean. Not too keen on the open dorm concept but it is central. Staff are friendly and accommodating.

Pretty clean, nice location, cheap...nothing worth sleeping with my shoes on the bed, daring getting to the jail-looking dorm room only after all the hoboes went to sleep, afraid of telling the urine-smelling guy to shut-off the light at 1am. Not safe, noisy like sleeping on a highway...my last night I got to sleep only at around 3:30am, also because...

Please be aware that HI Victoria checks in only bonafide travellers with government issued ID. We have no control over your perceptions as to the nature of other guests, however if you had concerns please talk to a staff member. As far as urine smelling hobo unless we are aware that some one has a medical or hygiene problem we...

The staff were really friendly and take the effort to show you your room when you arrive. I did notice that the stairwell stank of urine which was not great, however areas were tidy, common areas good and the kitchen large. The hostel is on a noisy street and as I was here on a Monday, the noise from the...

Great location! Victoria Harbour, downtown, restaurants, mile 0, all major sights within walking distance. The staff wasn't too bad, but not nothing to write home about. The price is great for the location. I do however very much dislike that the beds don't have their own personal outlet or at least one right next to your bed like hi-Jericho Beach...

We stayed in a private room, shared bathroom. The room itself was ok, clean, tidy and pretty comfortable. However, for women there was only 1 shower and 1 toilet on the floor - and it was in the same room, meaning if someone was having a shower you had to go to another floor to find a toilet. And for...

We stayed here for a night and I was surprised by the cleanliness of the place. Our room was quirt and we had really sounds sleep during the night. The staff was very helpful and polite. Definitely recommended.

The staff was nice but, there was about 5 45+ men staying here that seem to be homeless. The eat at the city soup kitchen and just slept in the dorm all day making it an uncomfortable feel. The one was walking around drunk all day being 4am, 1pm or 7 at night. He had been staying already for 2...

In a nutshell, after staying in hundreds of hostels around the world, this has to be by far the worst. It should not be advertised on backpacker websites because quite frankly it seems as if it is a shelter for the homeless. Being a young traveller, and to be honest not extremely picky when it comes to a bed for...
