Stayed here one night with friends as part of a package. Very friendly staff in hotel, restaurant, and pub ( great food, too). Room furnishings were a bit dated, as were the bathrooms, but everything was clean and comfortable. Beautiful Victorian lobby, nice spaces for...More
Having stayed in queen twin room 105 for three nights, we left feeling rested, relaxed and contented. Having flown from Australia, Stephen's welcome was warm, the room was quiet and spacious and the beds very comfortable.

We loved it. Old and no elevator - yes. We expected it to be as it was built in 1912. But we loved it. Clean and tidy. Pub and restaurant on site. Only sound was the horse drawn carriages passing by. We had a view...More
Love the ambience...the decor will remind you of British culture. This is the third oldest building in Victoria. Hotel is also famous for Emily Carr. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Location is walking distance to Royal BC museum, core downtown area.
We stayed here for only one night. It is a very old building but has some updates (unfortunately not the room keys into key cards!) Fairly specious 2 Queen Bed room with ample bathroom space. Wifi & TV but no air conditioning. They did have...More

No air conditioning. Rooms have fans and the windows open. Victoria seldom gets hot enough for air conditioning. It's hardly ever humid. As the temperature goes up, the humidity goes down. Temperature drops rapidly at sunset. It's a very comfortable climate. It rarely goes above 30C/90F and there is usually a breeze off the ocean that moderates. I never missed air conditioning at the James Bay Inn or when I lived in the city for 10 years.
