This is an old style hotel in an historic building in downtown Victoria. You get a good, average hotel incl. basic breakfast. Nothing fancy, but perfect for at short stay. We had a spacious room and bathroom with a not existing view. Durring daytime you have free water and coffee at the lobby which we enjoyed. hotelparking around the corner...

Stayed here for 2 nights mid week and enjoyed our stay. No problems with noise as it was wet so no Volleyball on the court beneath our window as have read in other reviews. Our room was decent, very small bathroom and could not get TV to work but wasn't worried enough to call reception. All staff helpful and pleasant....

Louie, Thank you for taking time to comment about our hotel. Your comments about our breakfast is what travellers need to know. I am sure any hotel would appreciate a call to the Hotel front desk about the TV not working as we need to fix it ASAP if not for you the next guest. Again thank you for your...

Has the basics covered. Central location, reasonably priced. Handy to have a bit of breakfast before leaving the hotel for the day. By 4:30ish on our 2nd day our room had not yet been tidied. We didn't really need it so put out the "do not disturb" sign so we didn't bother with it. Only 2 nights so it wasn't...

Our room was on the 'quiet' side, and with 3 fans blowing through the night, was reasonably quiet. No AC, so they provide fans, and we brought one of our own. Lucky, as it was a very warm part of August. Service was very friendly throughout - front desk, pub, restaurant, etc. Only 2 blocks from the Empress, so very...

We stayed here for one night recently and found it to be suitable accommodations. Definitely dated. Reminded me of many of the places I have stayed-in in the UK. If you want swank, stay at the Empress. If you want a decent place to put your head for a night that is close to all of Vic's sights, then the...

I booked this accommodation last minute after travel plans changed and, arriving late and exhausted on a weekend night, I admit that I might have liked the hotel more under other circumstances. The lively atmosphere of this area on a Saturday night was exctiing but made for a less than easy bedtime. The room next door had a gathering going...

We arrived about 3:10 pm to check in and our room was not ready. We were advised it would be at least a 1/2 hour or so. We also were advised we would be changed and additional $10.00 for parking. I advised this is my third stay and have never paid for parking. Our hotel person attitude was detached. After...

Recently stayed at the Strathcona for two nights. It is nothing fancy, but if you are looking for a reasonable price room in a great location this hotel will do the job. Room was fairly small and no A/C in the room. Windows only opened 4 inches and faced a brick wall from my room. The fan in the room did keep it fairly cool with the window open while I was there. Alright for a single night when it's not hot out but not a long term stay. No ice machine...

Bob, Thank you for taking time to write a review. The A/C is something we are looking at but trying to retro fit an old building has been an issue. Hopefully new technology will come along and allow us to upgrade.
