Stay is comparatively expensive to other places in Winnipeg. Rooms are old-fashioned, all remodeled, very clean. Beds were the best - they were like huge pillows: difference was felt with nice and expensive pillows and blankets. The lobby is very beautiful. Breakfast is buffet-style, but you have to pay for it (about $11 plus extras). Staff is very courteous. One...

My wife and I stayed 3 nights before a railroad trip to Churchill and 2 nights upon our return to Winnipeg. We thoroughly enjoyed it! Great location. It's a grand old style hotel that's a product of the heyday of train travel. Modern day perks: comfy beds, stylish toiletry liquids, big screen tv, free wifi, free morning delivery of beverages...

We booked the Fort Garry Hotel because of its convenient location to the VIA Rail station, since we were coming in on the train. It's about a two minute walk away. Having grown up in Winnipeg, I have always thought of the hotel as iconic - one of the grand railway hotels; but I had never been in it before....

Great Hotel, Great Location, Beautiful Rooms for a vintage hotel. Stayed their 40 years ago on our honeymoon and the hotel is even nicer now. Very well maintained with a beautiful lobby and live entertainment each evening in the bar/restaurant. Buffet breakfast was excellent with a chef making the eggs they way you like them. Try the eggs benedict.

Great location, classic design similar to the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa, beautiful renovation and friendly service. All the public areas are exquisite in design and if you are concerned about room comments in earlier reviews, splurge if you can on a jr. suite, room 318 is absolutely beautiful. Make sure you go have a drink in the bar, it is...

This is a stately older hotel in the heart of downtown Winnipeg. You can just feel the history as you walk in. The staff were VERY friendly -- I arrived at 11 am, expecting to check my bag until a later check-in. They told me a room was ready and there was no additional fee. My room was HUGE at...

The Fort Garry is a venerable Winnipeg institution - over 100 years of hospitality. But, and there's always a 'but'...it is an institution that is at odds with itself. On one hand, it is a glorious architectural jewel. The public spaces are beautifully maintained and are a feast for the senses. Staff are uniformly gracious and accommodating.
