We booked this hotel on-line, listed as a member of the Choice Hotel line (and therefore with member benefits), but with the name Saint John Inn. When we arrived, we could see the original sign was covered with a fabric one and the “new” name of Saint John Inn on the sign. It will be a Rodeway Inn when they get all the transactions done. It is pet-friendly. The room was adequate. It was on the ground floor with a patio door to the outside. We never could figure out how to take off the lock to open the patio door however. It did have a microwave and fridge with a freezer compartment. While there was coffee in the lobby, there was no breakfast (COVID?). One of the doors by the office (but in the hallway) to the outside had a sign saying EXIT only, yet, it didn’t latch so people could come and go just by pulling it open and bypassing the desk. The staff was friendly and helpful in their recommendations for food. The “high-speed internet” wasn’t high-speed at all. And there were no security/password measures to use the internet. When we arranged for the room, on-line, we went to the website, which said that people who stayed during the week could get a $5 Tim Hortons or Starbucks gift card or other options, just for staying. We registered for one of them. But when we asked at the front desk, they didn’t know anything about it. There was even a poster stating about it in the hall way, but still no recognition of the offer. All they could do was give me a phone number to call, which gave me another number to call for customer relations. They didn’t know about it, but ended up transferring me to a fellow who tried to sell me a 4 day/3 night vacation package to stay at one of their hotels and listen to the time-share sales pitch. Probably won’t stay there again.…
Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lacking because they didn't get their scheduled deliveries, so we only had dry cereal and slice of bread. But a very convenient place for us to catch the ferry the next day. Room was quiet and clean.
Pet friendly which is nice as a lot more people travel with their pets. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, however, the hotel is in desperate need of a renovation. The location is good as it is right off the main highway. Green area to relieve your pets. Unfortunately, I Will not revisit unless a renovation is done.
This was a quick family visit to NB. This hotel is conveniently located off the highway and an easy compute to the ferry. The continental breakfast was take and go. It served it s purpose in Covid times. The room and bedding were clean. The only issue we had was the smell in the room and the air conditioner. The room smelled like cigarettes and when you turned on the air conditioner it got worse. The front desk offered to come spray the room but we said not to worry about it. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful.
I would never recommend this to anyone after my experience walking into an uncleaned room was bad enough. "You get what you pay for" does not apply here. If I had known how disgusting and moldy the rooms would have been before checking in, I would have went elsewhere and had a far better stay. The hallway smelled like weed and my room was near a prostitute I kept hearing noises and headboards echoing down the hall all day and night. They had no covid plans or anything, nobody wore masks, and management was being badmouthed by the staff.
I spent a night here while in the area for work. The room itself was relatively comfortable. I didn't have the best room spot though as my room was right across the hall from the breakfast room so as soon as it was open in the morning it was noisy, but before that it was fine. The room itself was very typical of many other Comfort Inns that I have stayed at. One thing I found was I went to connect my laptop to the TV with an HDMI cable I travel with and found that the TV had the HDMI inputs blocked so you couldn't connect anything, and only the cable input could be used. I can only assume this was some sort of security measure so people wouldn't steal the TVs but it was disappointing as I would have prefer to watch Netflix on the TV rather than my smaller laptop screen.
First time in this Comfort Inn and I was satisfied with all areas. Very comfortable large bed with great pillows. Sliding doors to outside worked well but key room access is only from inside the hotel. Drive up was great convenience. Breakfast was free and was typical offering with juices, bread to toast, fruit, cereals, milk, etc. Desk people were friendly and helpful. Rate was best in Saint John for a decent hotel.
When we drove into the drive way I said, “If the signage is any indication - we are in trouble.” Indeed the inside is equally tired and worn. Rooms adequate and clean. Can’t remember the last time I saw a removable rubber stopper for the bathtub and very worn sink. Very poor selection for breakfast; SMALL breakfast room - ten seats!
We had made our trip up to PEI without stopping, won't do that again. So on our way back to the states, I used my Choice Hotel app and selected this location. This is an older facility but they have kept it in good shape. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable with wonderful sheets...something my wife noticed. Next year on our return trip to PEI, we will try to stay here again. Nice find...
Stayed here while attending the Summerfest Basketball tournament. Room may be a little dated however it was clean and also had a microwave along with a refridgerator. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Although it was in a quiet area it was easy to get to our destination.
