The address of the hotel online is incorrect, so it is impossible to find by GPS. Bringing in a luggage cart is a challenge with tight doorways and a ramp. The rooms are tired. Frayed chairs, hole in a bathroom door, noisy air conditioner, the headboards are leatherette covered and peeling. No towels in one of the rooms we tried, and no amenities in another. At about $450 per night, this property should b3 an embarrassment to the chain.

Overnight trip with girlfriends. Upgraded to adjoining rooms with 1 king and 2 queens. Excellent staff. Clean rooms. Water view with some lovely seal watching in the harbour. Right downtown next to restaurant and pubs. Easy to get to hotel. Girls out for an evening couldn’t ask for more!

This Hilton property is in serious need of renovation. We were greeted with friendly and professional staff. We had a club room on the 10th floor for our 3 night stay. The room smelled of decades stale smoke. There was a leak in the ceiling and a large damp patch of black mold. The bed was made with a badly torn sheet. The shower was moldy. The towels were threadbare and stained. The air vent in the bathroom was choked with dust. The mattress was compressed. In no way was any of this what I would expect from this brand. This is not a 4 star property. Every single staff member we encountered was excellent and did their best to make things right, but it seemed that they have to do a lot of apologizing on behalf of Hilton for the outright neglect of the property. I would not stay here again, we felt mislead by Hilton and the room was far too expensive for what we got.

First room so nasty we asked to be moved. Bathroom wallpaper was falling off of the wall. Understaffed. Staff was pleasant but property was tired and had not had any substantial influx of funds in forever!

Horrible hotel. Obscenely bad value. Abusively expensive. Milking the Hilton name and great location in this quaint old city. Whoever owns this hotel is severely neglecting it. The rooms are very dirty. There was black mold all around my tub. The sink didn’t drain well. The carpets were frighteningly dirty in the hallways and in the room. Bad smell everywhere. Worst Hilton ever. Should be turned into a backpackers hostel. Location is fabulous. Oozes potential.

Must have been great in it’s Heyday. Tired, wallpaper peeling, dirty grout in the bathroom. Our waterfront king room was very nice and big. It just isn’t a top hotel anymore. It can be with serious updating. The waterfront is under renewal as well, give it some time and the St. John waterfront will be a good place to visit. Having left the Halifax waterfront this morning it was less than satisfactory.

Wow. Should have read the reviews more carefully instead of looking at the first few. I agree- the hotel is abysmal. The fabric headboard was peeling and the base of the bathtub grey with dirt. I asked to be moved from the first room (a jr suite) as it reeked of smoke. The second did not smell but was clearly in serious need of refurbishment. However my main complaint is not with the condition of the rooms - my bad for not checking out the reviews, but with the hotel policies. The hotel advertises its cleanliness from check in to check out. Yet my room was not cleaned. I requested this be done before I left for the day following my first night, and was told that request had to be made the night before - would have been nice to know that. Especially when I saw the condition of the room -a cleaning would have at least assured me that the surfaces were wiped down. I was definitely unsure that was the case. The front desk clerk said she would try to “fit me in”. Not done and not even the towels were replaced. When I asked for that - it took longer to get the towels than my dinner order (Skip the Dishes, since by this point I concluded it was best to “skip the Hilton food”). I’m definitely over the whole idea of forgiving hotels for poor service “because of covid”. They have reduced their standards to rock bottom and left them there when all other businesses have managed to get back to normal. That failure to return to service includes stocked mini-bars, available restaurants and in room dining, as well as cleaning services. I looked at what constituted a two star hotel and what was described was mostly cleaned daily. Well there you have it - this Hilton is operating at a two star level.

Beautiful view from our room. You can see the harbour bridge and the cruise terminal. Clean and spacious room. The bed was really comfortable. The parking is under ground with lots of space to park.it is only $18 for overnight. Close to everything. We walked to a restaurant and the bars.

We ended up checking into the Hilton Saint John very last minute due to a terrible experience at the Algonquin in St. Andrews. When we first arrived tk the Hilton, we just wanted a clean room and a good night’s rest, but we were blown away by the warm hospitality and amazing service from the front desk, especially Carly! What started off as a negative experience at a different property turned into a lovely stay. PROS: 1. Service - the team doesn’t understand the word ‘no’! Instead they go the extra mile to accommodate all types of requests from extra rollaway beds to cutlery in the room. I was so pleasantly surprised by how top notch the service was and how they tried to bend over backwards to help us. This is truly the Hilton standard. 2. Location - the hotel is located right on the water in Saint John with water views from the rooms and a lovely boardwalk to walk in the morning. It’s only a few short steps to restaurants and shops and a few blocks from the historic area. Great base for exploring the area. 3. Breakfast - the breakfast (included in our room rate) was great, fresh, and filling. Judy was our server and was quite friendly. A good breakfast is always the best way to start a day. CONS: 1. Needs some renovation - yes, this is one of the older Hilton properties and could use with some more modern touches here and there. But the rooms were clean and comfortable and I did appreciate the water views. Overall, the standard of service truly makes up for any other shortcomings of the hotel, and I would recommend the Hilton if you are in the area! Kudos to the staff!

I look to stay at Hiltons when I travel as I expect a base standard. Was I surprised to see this room. Hole and mold in the ceiling, there was furniture falling apart, the headboard was tathered and whenni lysolled it down as I do at every hotel they were black. I felt like I was in an old motel with an great view on the 7th floor.
