Detailed Reviews
We stayed at the impressive Winsor house for our first trip to NFLD and George Street Festival 2019 and were simply blown away! In a nutshell, you cannot find a better place to stay in St. John's! Centrally located we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go for the festival as well as The Royal St. John's Regatta, Signal Hill, The Rooms, Terry Fox Monument, Historic Jelly Bean Row, the Harbour, and even Quidi Vidi (you must visit Linda's Inne of Olde Pub !).
Your hosts Gery and Lesa will warmly welcome you into their home with open arms. They are gracious, thoughtful hosts who love meeting new people (and pets!) and make every effort to ensure your comfort throughout your stay. They are extremely knowledgeable about the area and will point you in any direction you want. Their recommendations for restaurants and day trips were extremely helpful and spot on!
The Winsor House itself is STUNNING! The private rooms are pristine clean, super comfy and well appointed. Every little detail has been covered....cozy linens, comfy beds, flat screen TV's, wine glasses & bottle openers- you name it and the hosts have thought of it! The common areas are a comfortable and welcoming space where you can enjoy coffee by the fire place or a glass of wine with a good book. The charming dining room is where you will enjoy the most fabulous meals prepared by Gery & Lesa. Just like everything else, no detail is missed for your breakfast....fresh fruits, delicious comfort foods and homemade preserves and jams just to mention a few.
Do not hesitate to book the Winsor House for your stay in St John's, you will NOT be disappointed! This was by far the best B&B we have ever stayed at and will definitely return as soon as we can! Thank you for absolutely everything Gery & Lesa.

Our hosts (Lesa and Gery) were very gracious and welcoming on our arrival (mid May 2022) giving a tour of their home after showing us our room (the Kennedy) on the 2nd floor up a staircase….the amenities are plentiful filling all and more of our needs. The homemade breakfasts are sooo delicious, Lesa puts lots of love into her cooking/baking (yummm!) The bed was comfortable and cozy. The bathroom had a roomy shower and a ‘towel warmer’ (a real treat!)…the room also has charming architecture with some modern touches, such a gem! Being pet lovers, we enjoyed the company of their dog (Quigley) and cat (Scratchy). We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property and highly recommend it!

Winsor House is a wonderful B&B for a stay in St. John's. The owners are friendly, helpful and genuinely interested in their guests, but also give people space and independence. The house itself is well maintained, clean, with an old world charm and modern conveniences. The grounds are equally tended with care. The food is good and has a 'homestyle' feel. The location is downtown within walking distance of the shopping, dining, entertainer, hiking, historic sites, the harbour and ocean. A stay here will only enhance your time visiting our city!

We have returned from an amazing stay at the Winsor B&B. This B&B set the bar high for other B&Bs to follow. The owners are onsite and welcomed us upon our early arrival with home made baked goods and coffee. The breakfasts served were plentiful, delicious and there were many options to choose from. The location is ideal since it is walking distance to downtown/restaurants and other famous sites. The room was very clean with nice linens. We would definitely recommend the Winsor B&B as one of the best B&Bs we have stayed due to he friendly and knowledgeable onsite owners, excellent home made food, location and amenities.

Winsor House (1 Forest Rd.) St.John’s NL
My husband and I stayed in this beautiful heritage home for 3 nights at the start of June. Lisa and Gery, our hosts, couldn’t have been better. Scratchy the cat wasn’t around much but Quiggly, the dog, loved to get a head rub. This home is very comfortable, with a common lounge area for guests with a coffee/tea station. The dining room can accommodate eight for breakfast. Our first two breakfasts had a full seating. There were numerous options and the our selections were made the evening before. We were not limited to what we could request. The fresh fruit salad was the best, on its own or with yogurt. The omelette was cheesy with some sautéed veggies incorporated. They also offered traditional Newfoundland breakfasts, which looked like so much to eat. Unique pancakes were round pastries with various fruit fillings. I could go on and on about the breakfasts. They were the best. This B&B is well located in St. John’s as you can walk to many of the most popular sites. We walked to Christian’s Pub on George St. where we were “screeched-in” and kissed the cod. The host Brian made this a memorable event as he educated about 30 of us, there to be screeched-in, about Newfoundland as he prepared our shots and the fried bologna. So much fun! We walked to Quidi Vidi Brewery, a great area for hiking. Complete with restaurant and gift shop. Their T-shirts and sweat shirts make great souvenirs. There are many pubs and restaurants in the heart of St.John’s. Unique architecture. Jelly Bean Row of colourfully pained homes seemed to be everywhere. We walked to Mile 0 of the Marathon of Hope and the monument of Terry Fox, where Terry Fox began his quest. Sadly he was forced to stop in Thunder Bay as his cancer had returned and could not finish in Vancouver as hoped. We had fish and chips at the Duke of Duckworth and it was as good as advertised. Since Cape Spear is 15 km from downtown St. John’s transportation is necessary. That was an interesting site as well.

Outstanding. What more can I say! We are Blown away at the hospitality and generosity given by both Gery and Lesa. They take service to the next level. The rooms are beautiful, lots of light, very comfortable and exceptionally clean. The Kennedy room was a favourite, with a wood burning fireplace, windows that opened with a view of the beautiful historic trees set on the property; an experience to remember. A few spots along the property to enjoy a glass of wine, with their house dog Quigley. A very central location, only 15-20 minute walk to any pub downtown. No need to have a rental car!
We felt like locals in this quant city. Breakfast daily is very authentic and tasted amazing. Done right served on their grandmothers China. Thank you Gery and Lesa! What a wonderful holiday!

My husband and I stayed at the Winsor House in the Kennedy Room. This was our first night in St. John's and it was amazing! We arrived late at night from our long flights and they had a wood burning fire going in our bedroom. The bed was SO cozy, the room was gorgeous and they have thought of every last thing to make you as comfortable as possible. The towel warmer & robes were such a lovely touch. The made to order breakfast was amazing. The cat & Quigley the dog were wonderful additions to the house! We stayed at several other Inn's/hotels/air b&b's on our trip to Newfoundland but nothing compares to our stay here. There is something very special about Lesa and Gery! You can really see their love for their home and guests. You will feel like your in a hallmark movie the house is so beautiful! I am still chatting with Lesa and keeping in touch. Their b&b is the best of the best!

Gery and Lesa have done a wonderful job with Winsor House and are excellent hosts. The house feels updated with a perfect balance of heritage charm. Breakfast is made to order each morning along with tea/coffee/juice and was delicious, we even got to try a full Newfoundland breakfast. The room was extremely clean, cozy and had luxury touches like the towel heater (never knew I needed one of these until I tried it here!), robes, large windows, and handmade soaps. My boyfriend and I walked to Water Street restaurants, George Street, Quidi Vidi, and Signal Hill from Winsor house. There are lots of trails nearby that were great for running and Gery and Lesa provided lots of tips for routes to take and things to see. Their cat and dog are also very SO SWEET and made for lovely bonus "hosts" :) We cannot wait to visit again!

Spent one night at the Windsor House Bed & Breakfast on our recent trip to Newfoundland. Have to say it was one of the best places we have stayed. Our room was very comfortable with a king bed and sitting area, along with an ensuite bathroom. The rest of the house was well decorated and in keeping with the age of the property. Breakfast was made to order and included a full Newfoundland breakfast, as well as omelets and blueberry pancake balls. Or you could just have bacon and eggs. our hosts were friendly and went out of their way to ensure that we were happy with the experience. The B&B is located on Forest Road and is easily walkable to downtown St. John's and George St. We do plan on going back, probably sometime next summer and would recommend this place to any of our friends or to anyone who wants a very enjoyable and pleasant stay in St. John's.
