Would highly recommend a stay at the Ryan Mansion. This beautifully decorated inn is full of history and charm. It’s central location makes visiting points of interest easy- there’s lots to see and do within walking distance. Our room was inviting and comfortable with a luxurious ensuite bathroom and everything needed to unwind and relax. Robert and Mary were welcoming and thoughtful hosts; sharing the history of the mansion, preparing a special request breakfast, suggesting and making dinner reservations, and even serving an early breakfast before we left to catch our flight home. Would definitely consider a return visit.

Nice old boutique bed and breakfast with some stunning Edwardian features. Unfortunately they were unable to offer a full breakfast before 8am which means it isn’t ideal for a business stay. Probably needs additional staff so that the one member of staff isnt stretched to do early mornings and late evenings.

Ryan Mansion is one of my favorite things about visiting Newfoundland. I always end my yearly trip with a few days in St.John's and would not even think to stay at any other B & B. It is a great location in the city (close to downtown, tourist attractions & great restaurants), the rooms are clean and most importantly......great hospitality. Just love Mary and our daily chats. She makes a great breakfast and one could not ask for better. Look forward to staying again next summer.

We had booked a week's stay at Ryan through a booking site. Although they booking said we would not be charged and we would pay at the time of our stay, we were still charged one night's stay. After a few days we found a better room so we cancelled our booking (well within the cancellation period). However they would not refund our deposit ($450). We messaged them a couple of times but no response. Finally had to file a dispute with our credit card company who was able to resolve it for us.

We really enjoyed staying at the Ryan Mansion. Mary was absolutely exceptional and everything was beautifully kept up. The room was spacious and super clean and the bed was VERY comfortable! We would love to come back!

I really enjoyed the feel and locale of Ryan Mansion. The daily breakfast was charming as was Mary, the host. I did feel it was expensive for the overall experience but I would also stay there again. A unique BNB stay that augmented my trip to Newfoundland.

We booked the Ryan Mansion and didn't realize the time difference between the USA and Newfoundland and found we booked the hotel for one day earlier than we would arrive. We contacted Mary who resolved the problem we had with arriving at the property in the wee hours of the morning and she was very accommodating and nice about our major faux pas. We are very excited about staying at the property because Mary was so kind and helpful and treated us like family. The reviews for the property are great. This is our first time coming to Newfoundland where my grandfather was born. My grandfather was an orphan so we really never got to meet my grandfather's side of the family. We found our Newfoundland family on Ancestry.com and will meet our Newfoundland relatives for the first time in September!! What could be more wonderful than staying at a mansion with so much history and we thank Mary for making us feel so good about traveling to Newfoundland.

From the moment we entered to the moment we left our stay at the mansion exceeded our expectations. The owner not only greeted but went out of his way to give a tour and history of the Mansion with its Titanic and Royal connection. From suggesting points of interest for us to follow each day to our dinner reservations all made our 7 day stay not wanting to end. A BIG THANK YOU.

If you are thinking of booking the Ryan Mansion - DO NOT! The owner lost his empathy and customer care at birth. We booked a room for 7 nights at a slightly reduced rate but after 4 nights we had to cut our vacation short as my wife fell ill and on Doctor advice we had to return home. We expected and offered to pay the non-discounted price for 4 nights but the owner insisted on charging us for 7 nights. No empathy, no consideration for the circumstances explaining how he would lose money as he may not be able to sell the room which was advertised the same day for $115 less than we agreed to pay . He ran our credit card which he held with our reservation without our permission and was rude and obnoxious. We are world travelers and we are yet to encounter such lack of consideration. The Queen may have stayed there but you should not.
