The Alt Hotel is perfectly placed to visit St John's. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us when we wanted to hang out and bird watch from the lobby. The rooms are a little small but well laid out - but be sure you both know where your cards if one person needs to leave the room. There are several very great restaurants in walking distance of the Alt. Finally, this was our third attempt to visit St John's in January. The first time we had to cancel due to a snow storm and the second due to a change in Covid rules. The Alt took both of the situations in stride and didn't penalize us for the cancellations either time.

A very relaxed hotel that punches above its weight in every way; in the Terre Cafe menu, the common eating and lounging areas, and support for local artists. The staff are exceptionally helpful and the hotel is clean and fresh.

Rooms are cozy with a nice view. The large windows provide so much light. Staff was helpful. The Cafe off the lobby is nice and there are many places to sit and enjoy a drink or treat. Terre restaurant was just incredible.

Great vibe in the lobby with the different seating areas and pool table. Captures the simplicity and whimsy of the Newfoundland culture. Clean, quiet and comfortable rooms. Close to the best restaurants and shopping. Great location for walking. Great rates. Best hotel to stay while in St. John's.

This hotel was absolutely fabulous! From the hotel service, views of St. John’s harbour to the cafe pasteries, everything was phenomenal especially the Chia tea lattes and cinnamon buns ❤️. Perfect location and close to all cafes, restaurants and shops but I would recommend the restaurant on site for supper!

Absolutely love this hotel! Immaculate room, dreamy bed, friendly, excellent customer service. Pool table and cafe in the lobby, the room is totally sound proof- so quiet!! The beds have pull out drawers, the rain shower is wonderful, deep soaker tub, fresh beautiful sheets, great smelling shampoos/conditioner/soap and lotion; automatic blinds & lights and soooooo much more! I am so comfortable here… on my 3rd day of 7 and I will be seeking out Alt hotel for all future travels. There is a desk and chair, 2 side chairs that are super comfy and one has a table attached; There is a large flat screen tv, clock radio with 2 usb charging ports, hair dryer, keuric coffee maker, fridge, The one negative is lack of signage for the parking garage - the signs say “Indigo” not “Alt” so you question if you’re in the right place. It’s a very tight corner to get in and again, poor signage once inside ( no “exit” sign, and easy to get trapped in a box of cars- very confusing!) However - The room is so amazing, I couldn’t deduct a point for the parking lot. This is a beautiful place to stay! We had a gorgeous view of the harbour ( back of the building) and the front were right on the street! So be sure to let them know your preference.…

Alt has a relaxed European vibe . It has Design sensibility and it is in a great location. The reception staff are great Ambassadors for St John’s . The cafe was perfect for a quick and casual breakfast or lunch . The Terre restaurant is bonus and for anyone looking for GF it has a good menu. I would stay here again
