Detailed Reviews
I stayed here during a short visit to St John's at the end of July 2024, there wasnt much available in the city for a decent price so I decided to give it a try as it was just 1 night. I didnt have many expectations but I was pleasantly surprised when I got there. The reception staff greeted us with a smile and gave us all the important information we needed. We went to our room which had a private bathroom and 2 small bedrooms with a single bed each but it felt very private yet connected. The bed was a bit hard but I suffer from low back pain so it actually did me good. There were towels and soaps, shampoo etc and the toilet and shower was very clean.
Breakfast the following morning was more than enough, mind you it is Continental breakfast so dont expect eggs and bacon. We had bagels, cheese sticks, muffins, bananas, apples, yogurt, assortment of cereals, milk and even almond milk and of course, coffee and tea.
I spoke to a few of the staff members and found out they are all students on MUN.
My only disappointment was that I left my reading glasses in my room, and I called the same day I checked out and they were gone. According to the receptionist, the room had not been clean yet and no one had entered after I left but somehow my glasses disappeared when I'm %100 sure I left them inside.
Besides that, the stay was pleasant and worth the money, we saved around $200 by not staying at a regular Hilton or Marriott downtown.

Property's Favourite Review
I stayed here for 2 nights in July and I really enjoyed it! For the cost, you get a lot of value. The room was clean and spacious. The front desk was also really helpful with any questions that I had. The only rooms left were the ones with the shared washrooms, however, I did not see anybody in the washrooms for most of the time that I was there.
I was also really impressed with the breakfast. It had many options. I am gluten free and there was even a separate table with gluten free items. I would recommend staying here!

I arrived at MUN around midnight, on June 26. The night staff was nonplussed, and the officious, but polite, young concierge guided me to my room in Hatcher House, then admonished me to correct my parking space to the proper lot. (Shades of Toronto, but no doubt for the best).
I had a very pleasant stay. The COVID-conscious breakfast was packaged, and bland, but adequate. The room and shower area were both clean and comfortable. Be prepared to share a washroom with both men and women. I have no problem with such an arrangement, though others might. Security is very tight and the key card is needed when using the elevator from the Reception Office to the sleeping floors.

Great budget stay with a nice quite environment!, the bed is comfortable better than most B&B. Although you have to share bathroom but I didn’t encounter one person during two night stay. They even provide a continental breakfast to you for free. On top of the price you can take campus shuttle bus to Signal Hill (campus there) and walk up to the top! Values for money!

+1
We enjoyed our stay at Memorial University. Having a 2 bedroom unit worked well for getting up at different times. Bedrooms are clean and functional. Washroom and shower are ensuite. Lounge was nice, with sofas, tables, fridge and microwave. Staff were very accommodating when we had questions or needed anything. Location is great. It was only a 10 minute drive to downtown St. John’s, about 15 minutes to Quidi Vidi and Signal Hill, 30 minutes to Cape Spear, etc. We enjoyed our 5 day stay and would recommend it if you are looking for reasonably priced accommodation close to downtown.

Dorm rooms were as what I expected other than I thought there would be at least a sink in the room. The bathrooms are quite a ways away with bright lights in the hallways in the middle of the night and are CO-ED, which is not my bag at all! Bathroom sinks are the automatic water-saving type so it is hard to get enough to brush your teeth. We were given the key to an entirely different room, which we didnt notice until the middle of the night as our room was unlocked when we arrived. Yikes. Just not for us.

We enjoyed our stay. It was affordable. Rooms were clean with decent space. The beds are a bit uncomfortable and there could be better sheets and blankets. The campus is huge, it's nice to walk around. Lots of security and it feels safe to be there. You are provided with towels, soap, and 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner. The lounge (same floor as your room) has a microwave, toaster and fridge. There is also lots of space in the lounge to hang out. The continental breakfast is decent (cereal, toast, Oatmeal, bagels, yogurt, muffins, granola bars, fruit, juice and coffee. The pool is a bit of a walk and isn't included in the price of your stay.

Well worth it for the money you save. My wife and i kissed each other goodnight each night before each retreating to our own little cubby with a tiny bed -- which was in fact very clean & comfortable. In the morning there is a complimentary breakfast in the caf across the road. It is like being back in school. there's hjardly anyone here in the summertime so it is nice & quiet (except for th seagulls at 5 a.m.! but that is part of the Nfld charm). Recommended but not romantic.

Basic but comfortable two-bedroom suite with private bathroom and shower. Breakfast was nothing special, but varied. The students working the reception desk and breakfast room were very helpful and ready to provide information and good tips on things to see and do in the area. If you do not require staying at a fancy hotel, I definitely recommend staying there. Good value for money.
