Detailed Reviews
My two-night stay at the Delta Marriott was the prelude to a four-week trip around the maritime provinces. The location is ideal for those who want to walk around the harbor area, visit shops, and read the many historical plaques in the downtown area.
I arrived on a late flight, at 3:00 AM. The check-in was fast and efficient, which I appreciated after such a long day. My room had a harbor view. It is a working harbor, but I enjoyed seeing the Coast Guard ships arrive and leave, and the cranes moving cargo containers.
The hotel is fairly quiet. After my late arrival, I planned to sleep in fairly late. I awoken by the vacuum in the hallway, but realized that 10:00AM is not an unreasonable time for housekeeping to clean the general areas.
The king bed was comfortable. The desk/work area is one of the better that I’ve seen in a conference hotel. There is plenty of space to spread out.
The water pressure and temperature in the shower was fine. While the bedroom itself looked spiffy, some of the grout in the bathroom floor and shower is due for a refresh.
The hotel location is close enough to the night life area—bars and restaurants—to be handy, but far enough away so that late night revels aren’t heard.

To set the tone, I was very much impressed by the Delta. My experience from pre-arrival to departure was very pleasant. The suite I received was very spacious, and although not as high up as I preferred, had a great view of the bay nonetheless. Everyone I spoke to at the front desk or in the dining room was friendly and attentive, and I was very much surprised when my breakfast server presented a little treat for my birthday without me even saying anything – a very nice touch indeed. There were some maintenance defects (or negligence, so to speak) in my room e.g. awkward shower setup, stuck sliding doors, etc., and the floor plan was a great setup to get me lost, but all around I loved the “grand” feeling of this hotel with a modern touch as it was obvious the hotel was renovated not too long ago with the Delta essences. Just based on this experience, the Delta will be hands down my upscale hotel of choice in St. John’s for my next trip. The OG Deltas never fail to deliver, and this place is no exception.

Stayed here twice in October for a total of 7 days on vacation.
The hotel is conveniently located downtown, so within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. There is underground parking at $10/day.
Both times we had a harbour view room, which I highly recommend.
The rooms are well appointed with comfy beds. Good sized bathrooms. Rooms come with a mini fridge, coffee makers, irons and blow dryers.
There is a pool in the hotel. We made good use of that amenity (due to COVID reservations are required for the pool). The pool temp was kept at a nice warm level (the hot tub was not available due to COVID)
We used the restaurant for breakfast a couple times. The food and service were both excellent. Had a chance to enjoy a drink in the bar, nice, comfy place to relax.
No housekeeping service due to COVID, which is fine with us. If you did need extra supplies (towels, toiletries etc), just ask at the front desk and it was delivered to your room.
I would definitely stay here again, if I find my way back to St John’s.

This hotel is only suited for business use. Not friendly environment for casual or family stays.
Most staff was friendly but not useful.
The breakfast buffet hot menu items were terrible guality, under or overcooked and cold.
If you like to pay 25 $ for cereal or a muffin it's ok then. The coffee is deplorable, same as they offer with a small maker in your room. I couldn't drink it.
We received poor service in this hotel restaurant at breakfast time.
Service in the bar was great.
This hotel will not provide housekeeping service at all unless you call
Our room was not setup properly to begin with , however the Manager made it right for us after the second day, after we ran out of tolit paper.
We booked 4 nights here. It is a pet friendly hotel, so if you have dog allergies you will find pet fur in your room. There is not an option for pet free rooms.
I will never stay at the Delta in NFLD, again.

Big shout out to the Delta Hotel who had one of the best New Year’s Day brunch that we have had in years. The first station had a fresh fruit and salad bar that was beautifully presented, as well as a seafood bar with perfectly chilled shrimp/ smoked salmon etc.
The hot buffet was huge and had everything from sausage/ bacon / eggs to crepes etc
They also served pasta/ turkey/ salmon and had a hip of beef and a beautifully done ham as well as a nice selection of breads and a lovely omelette station as well as an excellent dessert selection.
What made this so different was that everything was FRESH FRESH FRESH and our service was incredible. We were delighted and will be back !

I have stayed here many times in the past and it is one of the more consistent hotels in St Johns Nfld. You always know what you are going to get, the price is fair, it’s clean and it’s close to everything. A little disappointed in the fitness center as all that’s there is cardio stuff but understandable based on COVID. I made it work anyway. I was able to sneak in early which evened the playing field. The big difference for me this stay was breakfast. I have been quite critical in the past of the food vs price that you pay. On a low carb diet so I chose the most expensive meal on the menu, steak and eggs for breakfast. Holy crap. Have to say it was worth every penny. The steak and eggs were cooked to perfection. I had no choice but to eat some of the hash browns and toast as they were amazing. So much for the low carbs. Lol. My bad. I actually took the time to thank the chef as he nailed it. Thanks Paul. Would definitely eat here again.

Stayed here one night with other family members. It was not its usual busy self due to the COVID issues.
We decided to stay here as it was within walking distance to the downtown area and some great restaurants. Check in was quite smooth as we had reservations. Parking was free and we made use of the parking garage. The rooms were clean and quite comfortable. While it is well maintained, it is showing some age and some minor maintenance is required.
We did not avail of any of the other amenities in the hotel. Check out was very smooth as well.
Still a great place to stay.

Frist with the positive: the staff were very nice, kind. You have nice people working from you.
The rooms were dated, musty and sheets were yellow. Pillows are flat and internet kept coming on and off. My room was right by the elevator during a conference and I was awaken all nights by the noise of party goers going to their room in the middle of the night. I slept in my close because the sheet felt dirty, The towels int he bathroom didn't even dry the skin. I will never stay here again or recommend this property to anyone.

We checked in at 3 am with a lot of luggage. We are seniors, no one to help with luggage or trolley. We were given room on the back of hotel. Now, it is generally understood if you book through Expedia you will get one of the worse rooms in the hotel…..and I think we did. Our last 3 days we booked directly with hotel but really nothing changed. We stayed a total of 7 days, linens weren’t changed and I got extra towels from a member of cleaning staff when I saw her. The total cost was over $1500.00 and for that we had absolutely no services. We did order room services several times but they weren’t permitted to enter our room because of “COVID”. I am not blaming the staff, they must have a shortage of staff. With regard to prices that have not changed due to “Covid”, that is difficult to understand. In my opinion it certainly wasn’t good value for the amount it cost. Oh, forgot to mention bathroom sink was plugged, toilet ran constantly until my husband fixed it and the bathtub faucet dripped continually, and the hall light flashed on and off. The staff at the restaurant were very helpful and courteous.

The entrance leads directly to the front desk in a large and inviting lobby. The staff there was warm and inviting, eager to help with anything! Really the staff makes this place great!! The hotel has been around for a few years and they had a renovation approximately 2018. Most of it looks good, there are old worn out doors, elevators, and other items visible. The rooms are modern and updated, albeit within the confines of how the hotel was originally designed. Old showers, old sinks, etc. The bed was VERY comfortable, with great pillows. The furniture was in good shape and useful. There is a large minifridge that was able to store plenty of food. Be careful using the shower as it can set off the fire alarm.

Hello James
Renovations are still ongoing in ballroom, lobby and bar/restaurant. We have a lovely temporary restaurant and bar set up on main floor. Guestroom renovations are complete.
Hope this helps
Heather
Saw your question but no idea ... but probably only Marriott reward points.
Can't comment on the rooms as the renovations started after my last visit in Nov '16. However, end May/beginning Jun is a great time for icebergs and whales. If you visit Cape Spear, you might see both at the same time. Lots of excellent restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.
Hi Brenda, sorry not to answer straight away, don't access TripAdvisor as often as I should. The hotel is centrally located, close to everything you could need. Hope this gets to you in time,
Best,
Myawoman
