Beautiful location near Brewdock and Bannerman Brewery. We never at the Little Sparrow Italian restaurant located in the hotel but I regret it as I have heard great things about it since. The nautical theme in the room I enjoyed. The service was excellent. I texted with Gary and he was very attentive to our needs.
We rented two rooms for a two night stay. We were very impressed with the modern decor, and the clean lines of the rooms. Not sure about the spotlight on top of the closet, but what a fun decor! Everything was spotless and roomy. The front desk service was good, and we made frequent use of the keurig in the lobby (thank you for having a choice of tea pods as well as coffee). The price for a downtown location was very good, and we were able to walk to many locations from the hotel. We made use of the underground parking for a $10 fee per day. We did not bother with a harbour view room. A great place to call "home" for a couple of days in the city!
The hotel is perfect located right of course at the harbor. You can walk to basically anything downtown. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with amazing views and a nautical theme. The staff were so pleasant and the breakfast there was lovely. Parking is free, safe and enclosed. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat
Great location by the harbour. Spacious and quiet room. Warm cookies at check in. Front desk texted to see how check in went and were able to help in several ways via text. 5-15 minute walk to most places around the harbour/downtown area. Snack items available at the front desk.
Very nice, clean, modern hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. We had the deluxe harbour view king and were quite pleased. A few suggestions - better signage and information regarding where the ice machine is, and information about room service. We would have ordered room service had we known it was available - but we didn't know that until we mentioned it to staff at the Little Sparo the next day and they said you could order it. Also didn't like the 'tourism levy' - we're not tourists we're locals. But I guess that's the world now!
The hotel needs renovations. The biggest issue was room cleaning around bathroom counter and coffee/fridge area in room. Wifi was not included unless you paid or joined their rewards program. Joining the program was difficult. However the front desk offered a code without charge. The furnishings in the room are tired. The issues were noted by management in particular room cleaning. Some compensation was given for the stay.
Easy walking distance to downtown and to see all the Jellybean (Coloured) Row Houses. Views of the working harbour were great too!! The people hear were so so friendly and chatty. Loved visiting St John's
We stayed here for a weekend in September and we loved the location. It is walking distance to Water street and George street with all their restaurants and bars. Easy to get to if you are driving from anywhere in Newfoundland into St Johns. We are Hilton Diamond members and we chose this hotel for its location. Unfortunately our room was not the greatest and it was less than desirable , but everything else was fully booked during our stay so we had no other choice. Despite this, the front desk staff and Customer Service manager (Gary) did their best to make our stay pleasant. The restaurant has great views of the port of St John's and Signal Hill, with great choices for breakfast and dinner. The rooms are spacious and newly decorated with a Marine theme, very appropriate for the area. We will go back, but will make sure we are not booked on that same room again! …
I was underwhelmed by this hotel. They’re not cleaning rooms daily—only after 4 days. One of my biggest hotel pet peeves is the movement toward not cleaning rooms. I love having my room cleaned every day. If my room isn’t being cleaned daily, why wouldn’t I just stay at an Airbnb? Upon double-checking, it is noted toward the bottom of the website. Yes, they’ll clean upon request, but that’s a pain. And you run out of clean cups, tea, etc so you’re always tracking someone down. Also the rooms aren’t set up for intermittent cleaning. The trash and recycling are far too small, so we ended up with piles of it beside the trash can for our 5 day stay. All that said, even when we called down for supplies, and they said they’d bring them, they didn’t. But the front desk did hand us supplies when we went down. …Update—they didn’t even clean after four days! Called the front desk, they said they didn’t know how that happened. They apologized, but still the room is dirty. I also feel like the manager is going to say I should have told them. I did tell the front desk—I called, I went down. Lots of very nice apologies, no actual solutions. The staff was fine but not great (except Amanda—she was so nice and helpful!) Beds were good. The windows open which is nice. Room decor is lovely. Location is fantastic. You can walk almost anywhere you want from here. As others have said, the harbour is noisy starting at 8 a.m. It didn’t bother me, but it might bother some people. No cookies or tea in the lobby (other reviews note both of those things). And the hotel voice recording and their website does specifically say they have cookies. But still none. Our room never had water glasses, even when requested. And the fridge froze half the things we put in it. And the colour on the TV was off—everything had a weird red tint. Stay elsewhere if you're staying more than a day or two.…
We really enjoyed our two night stay in king bed corner room overlooking the harbour. There was just a tiny bit of street noise early in the evening, but that went away soon enough later on each evening. There was no noise from the working harbour facility across the street, but the elevator was slightly audible in the room, because we were opposite it. We loved the thoughtful amenities and thoughtful layout of the room. The TV was one of the largest we've seen in a hotel room. We would absolutely stay here again, as the immediate neighbourhood offered shops and restaurants, but without the hectic street scene found nearer the pub district.
