It was very nicely decorated with a boat theme. In the bathroom there was wallpaper which showed a plan to build a wooden boat. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The staff was nice and helpful.

I stayed here for nine nights while on a business trip and was amazed at the transformation. This used to be the Quality Hotel and the accommodations were basic and dated. Hilton recently purchased this property and renovated the entire building from top to bottom. The rooms have a tasteful nautical theme with little touches such as dock cleats for coat hooks by the door and dock cleats in the bathroom for towel hooks. The porthole in the bathroom door is a nice touch.

The bed was fairly comfortable and there were two outlets and USB charging ports on each side of the bed along with a reading light on either side. There was a nice chair and side table in the room along with a desk, a closet to hang shirts/pants and drawers to store other clothes. There is also a coffee maker as well as a mini fridge. The TV was nice and big, although there’s no way to steam Netflix/YouTube/Prime Video/etc. to it. I’m told that will be coming, though. The free wifi is actually not bad at around 10 Mbps download speed; fast enough for streaming services. “Premium” wifi is $4.95/day, but I don’t know what sort of speed that gives you. My only complaint is that the heater is somewhat noisy. I’m a light sleeper, so I ended up leaving it turned off overnight. Rooms are only cleaned upon request unless you are staying for an extended period, in which case the room is cleaned on the fifth day.

There is coin operated washer and dryer ($2.00 per load) in the ice machine room on the fourth floor and the front desk sells individual Tide Pods for $1.00 each and dryer sheets for $0.50 each. Speaking of the front desk, I was very happy to see that Dianne is still working there. I remember her from when I stayed here when it was the Quality Hotel and she is still as friendly and personable as ever!

We rented two rooms for a two night stay. We were very impressed with the modern decor, and the clean lines of the rooms. Not sure about the spotlight on top of the closet, but what a fun decor! Everything was spotless and roomy. The front desk service was good, and we made frequent use of the keurig in the lobby (thank you for having a choice of tea pods as well as coffee). The price for a downtown location was very good, and we were able to walk to many locations from the hotel. We made use of the underground parking for a $10 fee per day. We did not bother with a harbour view room. A great place to call "home" for a couple of days in the city!

Service was horrible from check-in on except the 2 homemade cookies they give you as a welcome. But then, we were not told there was no room cleaning until 5 days stay unless requested 24 hours in advance, apparently there was a letter that we did not receive. Why Hilton is still charging full price for rooms when the restaurant, gym, amenities, room service, restaurant and Baar and breakfast are all available, but no room service? It makes no $en$e does it?
Breakfast was a disaster, servers were lost and inexperienced, forgot ½ of my order, first coffee came with a courtesy hair in it, very appetising thank you.
Requested extra towels on 3rd night whereby the front desk lady basically gave me hell saying I should have requested them earlier if I wanted them? The neighbours, offensively and disrespectfully loud partied ALL night, security went to the room at least 3 times, they did not stop and we had a room that had the adjoining door which they kept trying to open all night. After zero sleep we asked the front desk if the neighbours were staying, we were told yes they'd be there for the rest of the week. This was enough, we checked out early and went to stay at the ALT hotel on Water street which is where we should have stayed from the beginning, the experience and service put the Hilton to shame. We will never be back and will make sure we let everyone know of this horrific Hilton Double Tree experience was that really ruined our first out of province vacation in 2 years. Thanks for the cookies.

Dear Brad H, Thank you for your review and apologies that you feel this way. As you can see from our other reviews, other guests have not felt the same way and thankfully have had better experiences. Certainly, cleaning protocols have changed a lot since Covid and every company is trying to do what it feels best for the safety of everyone. Hilton has implement a clean after 5 days and also room cleaning on request providing 24 hours notice is given as you mention in your review. However, I do apologize that your stay was disturbed by noisy neighbours, we would certainly have moved you and ensured that the remainder of your stay was an enjoyable one if you had asked to be moved. One thing I take exception to is your reference to one of our guest service agents "giving you hell" as you put if for asking for towels late at night. I truly cannot picture any of the team behaving like that and perhaps your frustration at your noisy neighbours may have elevated how you felt about the remainder of your stay. I am delighted to hear that another hotel in our city was able to provide you with the service you required as we certainly want every guest who visits our city have an enjoyable stay. Thank you once again for advising us of your frustrations, I regret not being made aware of your issues during your stay as my team and I would have made every effort to assist. We have spent a week at the Double Tree and really loved our room. We had the King corner suite with a fantastic view. The bed was super comfortable and rainfall shower was great after a day spent hiking. However, the housekeeping service was terrible. We did understand that 24 hrs notice was required to have cleaning done to our room. In a whole weeks stay we only had our room serviced twice. I put in a request this morning hoping for our last night here we could return to a nicely made bed. We were told it wasn't likely without the full 24 hours notice. During our stay we had to continually request towels and coffee pods ect. Today we finally just bagged our own garbage and dirty towels and carried them down to the cleaning staff in the hallway. And at the same time asked if we could take a roll of toilet paper off the cart since we had run out of that as well. The cleaning staff were very understanding and did a great job. It is obviously a management issue. When I bought the issue up to the front desk they told me they don't offer regular housekeeping. The money we spent for a week at this location was not worth it. One of the niceties about staying in a hotel is coming back to a clean room with clean towels without having to do a check at the desk every day and request supplies. Might be a great location for a very short stay

Dear Guest, Thank you sincerely for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. I am delighted to hear you loved your room and our facilities. Since Covid, all hotels have had to implement many changes in how cleaning is conducted for the safety of all. Hilton have implemented Clean Stay which is an amazing programme that ensures that room cleaning upon check out is of the utmost quality with many additional steps to sanitization. Hilton's policy is that we clean stay over rooms on the 5th day of a guest stay but we make every effort to clean upon request. On check in we give all our guests a letter that clearly outlines this as you quite rightly mention. We gladly provide additional supplies when requested but I certainly understand your disappointment. Covid has changed the way we travel and how we operate and hopefully we will see an end to these restrictions shortly. I am sorry to hear that this has impacted the enjoyment of your trip and hopefully in the future we will be once again be able to offer daily cleaning and resume to how we operated pre Covid. Until then we have to follow the guidelines set out for us. Again, the team and I are so disappointed that this impacted your stay and we will endevour to try to improve on this. The hotel needs renovations. The biggest issue was room cleaning around bathroom counter and coffee/fridge area in room. Wifi was not included unless you paid or joined their rewards program. Joining the program was difficult. However the front desk offered a code without charge. The furnishings in the room are tired. The issues were noted by management in particular room cleaning. Some compensation was given for the stay.

Goo d Day B3883NSdonnad, I believe you have the wrong hotel. The DoubleTree St. John's went through a complete renovation approximately 2 years ago. We offer complementary WIFI to all of our guests with the option to upgrade with a fee. The furnishings in the guest rooms were replaced when the hotel went through the renovations.

The hotel is well-located within walking distance of many restaurants and sights in downtown St. John's. We opted for a standard room, so overlooked the parking lot. Lobby was crowded when we arrived (overflow from the bar maybe?) so quite cramped. Front desk staff was professional but not particularly welcoming. Restaurant staff was very pleasant. The maritime theme in the room was very appropriate for the location and there was enough space in the room for an easy chair and a side table. The rainforest shower was great, but with only two hooks in the bathroom (one was in the shower stall) and no towel racks, it was a challenge to find a place to hang towels to dry. Of course, we could have used our towels just once and called housekeeping for more, but that seemed a bit wasteful. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. It was quiet at night.

A little disappointed in the service we received, we stayed for 2 nights, when we arrived the room was excellent all neat and tidy , stocked up with clean mugs and coffee supplies which we used the morning of the second day. We returned to the hotel after spending most of the day out to find the room had not been made up, we mentioned this to the front desk. They told us they did not do this any more unless requested so we asked them to at least replace the coffee supplies and the dirty cups. When we returned there were fresh mugs and coffee supplies but all the dirty stuff was left behind. We are paying for these services and should receive them, this lack of service was blamed on Covid, this is being used far to often as an excuse.

The heater in our room was like a jet engine every time it cut in. We never got a wink of sleep. Besides that the hotel was good. The room was nice and everything was clean but I’m not sure if I’d be able to go back if it meant being woken up every 20-30 minutes by the heater and being kept up until it cut out.

The rooms were comfortable and well appointed - we were there as part of an organised Wildlands wildlife trip - three days before and three days after.

Front desk were incredibly helpful, I don't think I'm the only one to have gone for a walk and left their keycard in the room!! (thank you Anne for sorting it out).

The restaurant attached was pretty disorganised, with most things unavailable, the staff were doing their best after both chef/cooks were down with COVID, but it was pretty bad for the three days at the start of the trip. The servers did their best and did keep apologising. Although I never did get the milk for the coffee!!!

We were told it was all sorted out at the end of the trip but the staff were unaware about the trip booking and didn't accept the breakfast vouchers we had been given. In the end, we all went elsewhere for breakfast.

If the breakfast was sorted out then it would have gotten a much higher score.

I've stayed at Quality hotels over the years and they've always been able to provide cribs. They have an 800 number that you can always call to double check. The room we stayed in was pretty small and I don't know where a crib would go but I'm sure they have rooms that acomodate cribs.
