I had recently stayed at the now renovated Highland Motel and cannot say enough how pleasant my stay was. The manager and staff were always friendly and kind. My room was clean, quiet, new floors, paint, everything. The pictures you see above are old. It is a nice quiet motel, I felt safe as a female, adequate lighting around premises. Room had a small fridge and microwave, air conditioning, bedding was soft, had enough towels, new flooring. The only thing due to the current pandemic was no seating in the main office area or breakfast service - which is understandable given our current health regulations for the covid pandemic. Ohh I have to mention the Wi-Fi worked just fine. I recommend this hotel as a place to stay, good location to ferry, shopping for food or other needs. I will be more than happy to return back. …
The first room they gave us stank of stale cigarettes. The 2nd one smelled cleaner but was no less filthy. I cleaned the front door and light switch, both were disgusting. The dresser was full of a previous traveller’s clothes. The shower is a dribble. The floors are sticky, if you intend to stay here bring cleaners and slippers! However the front desk staff were pleasant, reassigned our room no questions asked, brought over a blanket as there was no heat in our room, and cleaned out the dresser right away. We won’t be staying here again.
Beyond worn out is an understatement. I don't mind old but the place is a mess. There's not enough space to say how bad it is. Cancel my stay and went elsewhere. The pictures on the review can't be from this motel because there're far from looking like that. Read the other reviews please.
An absolute dump. The staff are disgusting and extremely inappropriate. The staff aren't even the worse thing about this place. It's the beds, it's the dead middle of winter and my room was just crawling with them. They even had the previous tenants' garbage in my room. Do yourself a favour and sleep outside.
We booked this through another site. The only good thing I could say is that the bed was comfortable. Oh, and the floor was nice. The bathroom was disgusting; I guess it was clean under the moldy shower curtain, falling apart rubber bath mat, and cracking, disintegrating tub-surround. Lights were weirdly placed. A coffeemaker would have been nice since the promised breakfast wasn't available and it's a bit of a drive down the road to anywhere else for morning coffee. The worst part was probably the garbage piled up just outside our room beside the already full garbage cans. It stayed piled up the two nights we were there.
Here is my story .when I woke up in the morning I realise that i slept with cockroach and also I visited with respect in regard to cmentary of the dead cockroaches and flies inside the window frame in this room No. 5.
Room was big with lots of space and the bed was very comfy. Good to have a fridge and a microwave. TV didn’t really work (turned on but couldn’t change channel?) and the WiFi was terrible. Super spotty, cut out, didn’t load. Bathroom was ok- the shower was pretty good, lots of shelves. However, not as clean as could be and the hot tap over the sink sputtered and didn’t work properly. Breakfast was fine, cereal, bread, fresh fruit. Tea, coffee, supermarket packaged pastries. On the booking, it said the office was open until 2230. We emailed ahead because elsewhere it said it would be open only until 2200 and we were going to arrive at 2215. We got called back about an hour after our email (the only good thing about the staff was the quick phone back) and were told that the office got closed at 2130. Our keys were left in the letter box. Although not actually problematic, this should be made clear on the website or on booking.com. We were told three different times that the office closed and only found out where our keys were going to be because we actively contacted them. Who knows what would have happened if we hadn’t. …
This place isn't the Ritz, but it doesn't pretend to be either. This is a cheap place to spend a night or two while in the area and it's not as terrible as some reviewers paint it to be. Our room was crazy hot but the air conditioner remedied that while we went out for dinner. Our room featured a ceiling fan, but no apparent way to turn it on. Then again, it wasn't necessary once the a/c cooled the room off. The beds were clean and comfortable. There was a mini fridge and a microwave oven, but the oven was unplugged and we didn't bother messing with it as it looked to be ancient. I didn't even open it to see how clean it was. Oddly, there was a sign saying NO COOKING in the rooms. There was an odd looking bare-bulb fluorescent light fixture on the wall above the fridge and microwave that seemed to have no purpose other than lighting that wall. Above the headboard of the bed was a 2-light fixture that would have made wonderful reading lights if the bulbs weren't super bright 100 watt (equivalent?) bulbs. [Note to management: 40 watts would be better] The bathroom was clean but the tub was tiny. A walk-in shower would have been a better choice. I did need to request a roll of toilet paper from the man at the front desk because there was no spare TP in sight and the available roll was pretty small. The window above the air conditioner had a small round hole in it that looked like a bullet hole. We had no idea how the how was made, but a photo of it on our Facebook page made for some colorful speculation from our FB friends. [Note to management: fix the broken glass or at least put some duct tape over it!] The wall-mounted TV was nice but the wires trailed onto the floor and could have been wrapped and out of the way. We used the TV's USB plug to charge our phones. The wi-fi was free and worked well. The breakfast was not too bad. Coffee, cereal, bread or toast, muffins, bagels, OJ and more. There are nearby restaurants if something more substantial is desired. This was a comfortable, clean, quiet and inexpensive place to spend a night while passing through the area.…
Description on web site inaccurate. This place is a dump. Holes in the screens, hottest day of the year and air conditioner wasn't turned on so room was stifling hot upon arrival. Tub was the size of a sink, furniture was ripped and dirty, dresser was missing corners. Fridge was dirty, wall had food on it, microwave dirty. If there have been upgrades they must have been to other rooms not the one I saw.
Stayed here to take the ferry to Nfld. It is less than 10 miles from the ferry terminal. The woman who checked us in was very friendly. Our room had two double beds and had a microwave as well as a fridge. There was a picnic table in front and it also had chairs outside so we did not have to sit in the room. It looked like it had recently been re-done and was nice and bright inside. The bathroom had nice towels. The bed and pillows were fine as well. We did not have to run the AC - just opened the windows. It was a window unit. breakfast the next morning was pretty much the standard stuff - although they had fresh fruit which was nice and appreciated. Toast. cereal, packaged pastries, etc Apparently there is new management and hopefully it will stay the same pleasant place.
