Langdon Hall offers a quiet and peaceful environment best suited for romantic get-aways that require an elegant setting. As a member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux association, the property prides itself on creating a unique experience brimming with all the charm, character, cuisine, calm and courtesy you would find at the finest Relais & Chateaux property. Located one hour west of Toronto, Langdon Hall was built as a magnificent summer home in 1898 for the granddaughter of John Jacob Astor of New York City, a gentlemen who made his fortune in several areas of business including the Waldorf Astoria, the greatest hotel of its era. In 1987 Langdon Hall began its transformation into a hotel and now offers 60 guest suites, a full service spa, the only five-diamond award wining restaurant in Ontario. In addition to the main dining room the property features a casual bar and private dining rooms featuring wood-burning fireplaces, and 75 acres of expansive gardens and trails. For three consecutive years the readers of Conde Nast Traveller selected Langdon Hall as the number one hotel in Canada. Nearby amenities include championship style golf course, canoeing, theatre, horseback riding, biking and hiking.

Langdon Hall is a magnificent Gilded Age Neo Colonial pile of a country house surrounded by two newer wings situated on 75 acres of manicured garden and walking trails just a few minutes outside of Cambridge. The nearest city most Americans could locate (maybe) is Toronto, about 80 minutes to the east. Rooms and service here are very nice and the working gardens and pool must be lovely in the summer months. For chilly months, the working in-room fireplaces are a treat. The restaurant is very capable, and we had a great waiter, but the atmosphere there felt barren and ad hoc in comparison to the rest of the hotel. The kitchen pulled off several impressive culinary feats, but turned out a few other dishes that weren't very interesting. I wouldn't recommend a special visit here simply to dine (unless in the area), save for the wine list: It's a beauty. 18,000 bottles, many pretty special. On the other hand, LH has a great bar that also offers casual dining. Don't miss the excellent croissants at breakfast either. My friends liked the spa. Finally, Langdon Hall is somewhat reasonably priced for a Relais Chateaux and would make a great weekend getaway. There is some corporate conference business during the week.

We live 3 miles from Langdon Hall and yet it is still our "go to" place for a mini break. For the last several years we treat ourselves to a couple of nights of luxury, the in room wood burning fireplace, a great spa and most importantly amazing food! Special thanks to Sarah in the Wilks bar and Sam our dining server and of course Virg to oversee all good things in the dining area.

As always, eating here is a wonderful experience! We went for an anniversary lunch and were treated so well. The food is so delicious and the selection of cocktails and wine is extensive. Service is excellent. The ambiance is so relaxing. For any special occasion (even if it’s just celebrating that it’s Tuesday!), this is a wonderful place to go. Thank you for helping to make our anniversary so lovely!

We loved our stay at Langdon Hall. The service was impeccable, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the restaurant was absolutely amazing. The food was comparable to Michelin quality - highly recommend the scallops & caviar, chantecler chicken, and butternut squash purée. Our room was comfortable, clean, and had a wonderful ambiance with a woodburning fire. We also had massages at the spa and both had a wonderful experience. The grounds are gorgeous as well and great for an outdoor stroll.

We returned to Langdon Hall over the Thanksgiving weekend for the first time since January for our umpteenth visit. We were impressed with the recent renovations undertaken by the Sarah Richardson Design team--Wilks' Bar, the sunroom, the solarium, and the parlour have been totally transformed with lighter, brighter colours and cheery fabrics. Aside from some physical changes, we were pleased that the exceptional service and extraordinary food and beverage options were as good as always. We enjoyed two delicious breakfasts (totally a la carte now), two magnificent dinners, and some delicious room service treats. One change we were disappointed by is the lackluster welcome amenity. In the past. we used to receive a half bottle of wine, a delicious treat from the kitchen, a welcome note, and a refrigerator stocked with complimentary San Pellegrino sodas. Now there is just the 1/2 bottle of wine and a generic, pre-printed welcome card. We've stayed at three other Relais & Chateaux hotels in the last year, and the welcome amenities there were much more special and personalized. During our stay we enjoyed hiking the trails, lounging around reading, and exploring the (insanely crowded) St. Jacob's Farmer's Market. It was nice to see some familiar faces in the dining room, but there were a number of new faces too, some of whom are still getting used to their roles/duties, I think. This is the case with the hospitality industry in general right now. We look forward to returning for a weekend during the Christmas season to enjoy the decorations and relax by the many roaring fires. How lucky we are to have a world class Relais & Chateaux property like Langdon Hall within an hour's drive of our home!

Langdon Hall is a lovely, relaxing inn where couples and friends gather. Service is impeccable, attentive and friendly without being overbearing. Services including the spa were top notch. Good walking and hiking trails. And the food, was delicious and beautifully prepared, especially the new fall menu (we stayed two nights and they switched from summer to fall menu for dinner). Overall 5 out of 5! I will be back.

Family lunch. Minute portions of pretentious food. Stale slice of bread, tea too weak to crawl out of the pot. Adequate service. Ridiculous prices. Lukewarm food nicely presented. Nice gardens. Washrooms far too distant from the dining area and difficult to find. Won’t return

I have actually eaten at Langdon Hall four or five times and we kept coming back for many reasons. This last time, last night for dinner, was less appealing. Don’t get me wrong there are many things that I like about langdon Hall. I find the staff friendly and Unpretentious. The ambience is luxurious and comfortable. Our appetizer, the truffle soup, was wonderful. Every spoonful was a delight. This time, for the first time, I found our main plate to be lackluster. I had the spring chicken. It was fine but it didn’t delight and entice me like my entrées have during pass visits. We also took issue with the quantity of the main plate. Of course we know that fine dining means smaller portions but we never felt they were too small. I noticed a marked difference In the quantity of the food on my plate. “Please sir, may I have more”. Another difference I noticed was in the flow of service. Previously, each course was delivered at the exact right time! A plate was taken away with a few minutes to appreciate the course just eaten and clear the pallet, and voilà, The next course arrived. The execution was perfect. This time they were long gaps in between courses. Something I’ve never experienced it previously at Langdon Hall. For all of these reasons, it may be time to find a new fine dining restaurant for special occasions. I am

4 adult couples (a family) just finished a two-night stay at Langdon Hall and have nothing but high praise. The food was absolutely exceptional - a visual and sensory feast with every bite on the plate packed with delicious flavor and impeccable seasoning. The portions were a little smaller than one might be used to but after the meal you feel full but not stuffed. From check in the check out every staff member was friendly and attentive and also very personable. Service at meals is first class, with all entrees brought out in unison which is a nice touch. The linens and beds are very comfortable with the highest quality sheets and towels. The dining room also permits corkage which is appreciated. The grounds, gardens, bike paths and pool are beautiful and perfect for a bike ride or a pretty walk. The spa has a lovely hot tub, steam room and sauna (shared /co-Ed) and the massages were excellent. The house is stunning with a variety of gorgeous sitting rooms to sit and enjoy a drink or a game of backgammon. Having eaten at many top restaurants I can say the dinner at Langdon Hall is one of the best and not to be forgotten anytime soon. If there is one area to improve I would suggest ensuring the rooms have some real cream or milk to enjoy with in-room coffee - and breakfast service is a bit slow but we didn’t have anywhere to rush to so it didn’t detract from our experience. We also had dinner at Cambridge Mill which was a great experience as well and is 10 minutes away.

Heard many great things about Langdon Hall. Generally that is very difficult to "live up" to the hype. The rooms are clean and spacious. The fridge was acting up, one call and a new fridge delivered within minutes. The room is country/modern style. No complaints. Room #19. One king, couch, fireplace on the bottom floor. The grounds are perfect for those wanting green spacious living. Surrounded by trails, activities and a pool. The meal was incredible! I repeat it was incredible. Worth every cent. The entire dining experience with wonderful. Each person we encountered were professional, knowledgeable and welcoming. We had a gluten and diary free diet and it wasn't an issue. The restaurant is recognized nationally for its excellence and that is well-deserved. If you like to hike, bike, move or find a quiet country setting to read a book or chill out Langdon Hall is the place.
