My wife and I booked our stay at the Fairfield for 1 night last week, for a business venture the following day. We were flying from Montreal and our flight was canceled. I booked this hotel last minute the day of our flight, and once I found out my flight was canceled, I spoke to 2 different front desk associates. Both were not helpful and had informed me that canceling shouldn't be an issue. I travel alot for work and stay in a lot of various hotel chains. I got a receipt the next morning from the manager, Nalini Packiyanathan. I called and tried to speak with her 2 times. The first time I was hung up on, the second time was the most unprofessional and uncourteous hotel manager I have dealt with. She was sarcastic, unfriendly, said she was "too busy to help me" when I asked for the district/area manager and eventually hung up on me before the phone call was done. No empathy was shown for my circumstances. A few days later, another manager at this hotel called me about the negative review I had left, and was harassing me to delete it. He was also rude, spoke over me, interrupted me and showed a lack of professionalism. The customer service at this hotel is an absolute joke. How can the Marriott employ people who treat their loyal and paying customers this way? I have informed Trip Advisor, Marriott directly, and visit Guelph about this experience, so others will not have the same experience. I was part of a larger wedding group staying here (well at least we thought we were staying here... more to come). As part of the wedding party, I was unable to check in to the hotel myself, but once the guests started arriving, I heard from my wife that there were issues with room availability. As more guests, and spouses of the wedding party arrived, we heard more individuals who had been told that they did not have accommodations for the night, including for those who had pre paid! What was supposed to be something you do not think about once a room has been booked, started to feature as a main source of stress for a significant number of guests, including for the bride and groom, who should absolutely have never had to think about this on their day. To make matters worse, was the fact that there was not only a complete lack of ownership from the hotel, but a complete indifference to the issues. There was no accountability, no apology, just a factual statement that there would not be a room available. Next came an excuse that it was due to 2 rooms that had suffered damage. Hard to believe 2 damaged rooms would put a half dozen out as unavailable. Added to this, these rooms were booked months ago. Why would those first in the booking queue be the first to lose their room? Money. Rooms had become available (despite the hotel supposedly being full) in the week before the wedding, at nearly double the group rate that was secured for the wedding. Those who had paid the group rate were being booted from the hotel for guests who were willing to pay that new rate. Its a disgusting and slimy business practice, and worse, they did not pre warn people that their rooms were lost, and were forced to scramble at the last minute after the wedding (~2AM). The very idea that the management would put people in this position knowing full well that they would be arriving at the hotel in the middle of the night, with little option (its a wedding, people had been drinking of course) is not only irresponsible, but bordering on predatory and neglectful. to make matters worse, the attitude and indifference displayed by the management confirmed this is likely not the first time this has happened (confirmed by other commenters), and something they do as standard practice. I will never pay another cent to any facility or associated business of Marriott given the experience and indifference displayed by the employees/management, and would recommend anyone accommodating a big group look at another hotel, as I would not wish this to be repeated on anyone.…

The waterslide is only open from 5-8pm on Friday and Saturday. I think it should be more often. No place to hang wet swimsuits in the rooms. Housekeeper was rude when I asked for an extra towel. Confusion with front desk. Front desk is often unattended. No staff around to clean the hallway floors. Poorly managed hotel. There is a giant 50 foot tall factory beside the hotel that blocks the entire view of guests in the bedroom. The location of this hotel is terrible. Probably the worst location I have ever stayed in. who builds a hotel beside a 50 foot factory? This hotel should be moved to another location.

Pleasantly surprised. Nice hotel with free parking, hot breakfast included and an in hotel exercise room and indoor pool. Room was large with two queen beds and a pull out sofa option with sliding doors so you could close out the sofa area for privacy if needed. Room also included a small fridge, microwave and coffee machine. A 10 minute drive to UofG but worked well for convocation celebrations.

We chose Fairfiled Inn for a 1-night family getaway and specifically chose this hotel for the 2-story waterslide and pool and "kid-friendly" reviews. Check in (which was supposed to be at 3pm) took a long time... the Marriott Bonvoy app that supposedly lets you do contactless checkin wouldn't let you do it until 4pm, so there was a HUGE lineup. The room was okay, but they hadn't provided enough towels, there was no shampoo, and there were no paper/pens to be found when we needed it. The TV was Netflix-ready and able to stream from a number of providers (eg, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc). Weird that they don't give that information on their website. The pool was on the small side and VERY busy with families. Not enough chairs for people to put their towels down on, and no hooks on the walls or anything either. The chlorine in the air was pretty strong and we all had red, burning eyes after about 20 mins. I asked and was told the levels were "normal." The waterslide is only open from 5-8pm on Fri/Sat, so be aware of that when you book, but it looked really fun (and busy - we didn't end up going). The hot breakfast was the best mid-range-hotel breakfast we've had. Waffle station, cereal, oatmeal, sausages, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, toast, bagels, yogurt, oranges, bananas, juice, etc. Breakfast area was also VERY busy and crowded until about 9:30. We stayed here with our children's hockey team for a tournament. Karim was excellent to set up the contract for the block of rooms, and ensured all of our needs were taken care of of. At night, the front desk staff was great, allowing us to use the breakfast area to order in food and have a low key team dinner. The pool was great. It was full from kids from all over and they all had a blast. The rooms were clean, stocked well and the front desk fulfilled any requests for extra pillows, etc. It was a great experience for the family!!

We booked 2 adjoining rooms for a fun night with friends & it was even better than we'd hoped. Everything was very clean and well maintained (rooms, restaurant, pool & hot tub). The beds were comfortable and the rooms had lots of space. Kevin at the front desk could teach a master class in customer service!

House keeping was basically non existent during our 3 day stay. Main hallways not maintained and room garbages not even emptied. NO in room housekeeping. Hall garbages overflowing. Rude and dismissive front desk employees. Check in was a nightmare. Requests submitted for cots/bedding/extra pillows on booking not honoured. No phones in rooms so you have to go to the front desk to speak with anyone if they even choose to acknowledge you.

I stayed at this location for a month and a half due to a flood at my house. The staff treated me wonderfully and were always quick to help with anything I needed. Highly recommend staying here! My daughter wants us back soon to go swimming. What an awesome 2 story slide!
