Our furnace broke this past weekend (when it was almost 30 below), and we needed a warm place to stay. It just so happened Staybridge suites was close to my husband and I, and that it was pet friendly for our pup. The hotel is located right off of Highway 6 quite close to the 401. The room was great, clean, and had everything we needed. The suite/condo style was nice. Breakfast was included and was in my opinion a step above normal hotel breakfasts. However, it is the staff that is the reason for this review. The staff were outstanding. From the moment my husband called to the moment we checked out. We want to shout out Theo in particular for making sure we had everything we needed. They were able to grant us a later checkout at the end of our stay while we waited for our repair person to come fix our furnace. They made sure we were getting the best price possible, and were very kind and genuine. If you find yourself in Guelph, this is the place to stay. …
Before we came here, I had great expectations. The pictures on the website looked great. But when we came here, it was truly a disappointment. When we moved in, there was trash from the previous customer. It filled the whole trashcan! We called the staff to have it removed, but it took more than an hour for someone to come! We had to live with someone else’s trash for over an hour! Also, when we moved in, the AC cover was broken. we had to wait a long time before housekeeping staff to come. We were very tired but we couldn’t take a shower because we were waiting for the housekeeping staff. I wish they could fix that before guests move in. In the last few days, whenever we would ask for something, they would give us many reasons why things cannot be done. For example, one day, we had dropped some crumbs on the carpet, so I very politely asked the housekeeping staff to help vacuum the crumbs. He gave me a long explanation why it cannot be done. He said they only vacuum the floor for people who stay for more than three nights. in fact, we’re staying for eight nights. After I told him that, he reluctantly came back with a vacuum cleaner. Seriously, the vacuum took 30 seconds! I just don’t understand why it has to be such a hassle. Even if we don’t stay for more than three nights, if we have dropped some crumbs on the carpet, we had to live with it? This is not making sense. We do like the breakfast though. The staff there were very friendly and welcoming. The food is basic, but good enough to start a day. It makes such a difference to have friendly staff!…
Room had earwigs. Closet door, and curtains broken off. Room had a smell to it. Mattress on pullout had a back spot on it (mold) and it was terrible to sleep on . It should be thrown out. Maintenance is completely lacking on this property. We rarely complain but this is absurd for the price. Stay at the Marriott across the road….
We are returning guests and are staying here for 2+ weeks but had a very shocking and unpleasant experience during one of our breakfasts with Steff/Steph, who was one of the staff members servicing breakfast on Sunday, August 28. She rudely called me out for “going back to take breakfast five times” and that “people start noticing” (her exact words) in that particular morning. It was not as if we threw away and wasted any of the food. After all, we are paying guests. It is our right to take the amount of food we would like to eat, especially since it was a delicious buffet breakfast. Never have we ever been treated by hotel staff in this manner throughout our time as loyal IHG Gold, so this was disappointing. This issue has been brought up to their colleague and the hotel’s reception staff who apologized to us profusely, which we appreciate. We hope the hotel takes appropriate action regarding this employee to prevent future mishaps, as one bad apple should not damage the reputation and image of a well-respected organization.…
We were there with our lovely golden retriever. All the staff were very friendly and made quite a fuss over her. Stephanie from the kitchen even brought her a little treat. It was clean, quiet, roomy, friendly. We were made to feel very welcome. We will definitely return and recommend it to friends.
We recently stayed at this hotel and was impressed with the cleanliness and the size of the room. I cannot say enough about the staff. We were greeted like an old friend upon arrival by Tara, she was so pleasant and accommodating. It is so good to see that customer service is still a priority.
Our extended family spent a wonderful week here and would recommend it to you too. The staff were very helpful when we had to add an extra room at the last minute. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful and we even enjoyed a supper there.
First time here. Nice well equipped one bedroom suite with two very comfortable double beds. Everything was clean and fresh. Breakfast buffet was excellent with hot and cold dishes. Pet friendly too. Hotel easy to access . Very quiet. We will stay here again.
Christmas Day - after receiving two chaser calls asking when I was going to be checking in we arrived at the hotel at 12 midnight. Nobody was on front desk. So we waited .... and waited.... and called the hotel .... and waited ... and called the central Staybridge number ... who called the front desk ... which was empty... we waited some more. AN HOUR before a staff member showed up / woke up. On the 3rd room, we agreed to take. The other two were dirty and one room even had a pair of scissors tucked into the bed. I would advise staying the hell away from here. I've since tried to contact Staybridge customer care - seems like they don't. Care.
We stayed Christmas night with our dog. Everything was as it should be. We found the room warm on our arrival and fortunately we were able to turn on the AC since the open windows didn’t do much. The room cooled but the unit sure was loud! No other problems — a pleasant stay in a clean room. Staff were most helpful.
