This was our first time at a B&B and our hosts James and Sandy were very welcoming. Our room was comfortable and clean and the breakfast very filling. James gave us great recommendations for wineries as well as coupons for free tastings. It is obvious they take great pride in their home. Four blocks from Queen St. In a quiet... More

During our many visits to Niagara-on-the-Lake we had always stayed in hotels. Our last time we stayed in a bed-and-breakfast was over 20+ years ago. We decided it was time to try again. We found DownHome on the hotels.com website. We were able to reserve our room within a week to 10 days prior to our arrival which is difficult... More

Room was very nice and walking distance to everything. Made you feel very comfortable and very down to earth people. The back yard was very relaxing and beautiful. Nice Lighting at night time I would go again.

Positive: - The rooms were Nice and cozy. - Good location about 10 minute walk from town. - Great Patio with lots of trees and flowers making it feel very secluded. Negatives: - Fixed 8:30 breakfast, other B&B typically offer a time range. - Heavy breakfast, couldn't just have fruit and toast. - Hosts were too talkative at times. In... More

A quaint bed and breakfast in Niagara on the Lake. Good breakfasts, accommodating couple who run it. Facilities could use a freshen up. Perhaps ceiling fans in the bedrooms would be helpful. Satisfactory lodgings, nice people, good breakfasts.

We had a pleasant and enjoyable weekend at DownHome. Our friends and us traveled to Niagara on the Lake for a relaxing and enjoyable week and we definitely enjoyed ourselves. James and Sandy the owners were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was delicious both days we stayed. The our rooms and the common areas were neat and tidy, my wife... More

The room was quite comfortable. The breakfasts were very tasty. The proprietors' hospitality was lovely. That's the trifecta for a B&B. The proprietors were very helpful in planning our siteseeing. We decided to check out local wineries. They made uniformly good recommendations (particularly Colaneri!) and provided chits for free tastings and maps so we could find our way around. When... More

The first sign this place needs some TLC is when you pull up and the white plastic urns out front have a couple of old logs thrown in them. This could be a beautiful place if the owners cared more, but instead we had a mediocre experience for a lot of money. Not right in the downtown core, it not... More

We were in town for a wedding recently and stayed at the DownHome. The experience was definitely unique. The building itself is nice, although the decor is eccentric. Location is great and within walking distance of downtown. Our room itself was clean and very comfortable, although the bathroom was dated and I was surprised that there was no TV (there... More

I recently stayed with Jim and Sandy and they were nothing but helpful and gracious. Thanks! The main floor of the B&B is well decorated with lots of little lovely touches, courtesy of Sandy, I am sure, The back deck and yard are just perfect spots to rest and read. The room I had "the Bordeau" faced the front of... More
