The motel may not be getting great reviews, but the RV site we had was very nice. Level grass/dirt site, spacious, shade, 30-amp service, water and on-site sewer hook-up. The site had cable TV but you had to rent a cable box, definitely a 70's thing! The pool looked nice, but we didn't use it. They also have a decent laundry room. The people checking in ahead of me were upset at no fires, but again, it didn't concern us. At $45 a night, no complaints so far.
We have stayed here quite a few times as we live by and it’s convenient as we have animals at home, we will never stay here again nor will we recommend anyone ever stay here. Every time we stayed here there would be taxis going up and down delivering stuff you could only imagine, half clothed women walking up and down the park, people screaming and police being brought here every other day. We have spoken to a bunch of people who are seasonals here and they tell us the horror storys.... the owner turns a blind eye to the bad things that happen here. Just a heads up look up this place before you visit! Trust my recommendation. Brock
Not sure why the fuss and complaints people post about this place when the name says motel. When you see the word motel don't expect a world class resort. You get what you pay for. The beds and room are dated yes (we had room 7). The carpet should be ripped out and replaced with laminate. Other then that it was pretty clean. AC worked fine and the bathroom was ok. For a motel i was impressed they had a fridge in microwave in the room, even at some premium hotels you need to ask for that. Keep in that this place is more catered to RV's and trailers. Staff are super polite and pleasant to deal with. As for continental breakfast. The usual cereal bagel an yogurt. Locally in the area are restaurants and lcbo fyi
Unfortunately I have to give this place a 1. No campfires aloud. No guitars after 9:30. Showers were concrete yet seriously mouldy. Pool was clean on a positive. Staff was ok. Should have done our homework before booking
First impression was rundown. There were food crumbs on very dated chair. The big problem was the Shower; loose taps and water stopped and started. When I pointed this out the wife giggled and said but everything else is ok! I complained for 3 days about the lack of water. Having a shower requires water! Would not recommend this place.
Problems started at check in, needed a cash deposit due to smoking in the rooms, was given room #9 and when we opened the door the smell of smoke sent me in a tizzy, moved to room 12, now where to start! The rooms are decorated in 40 year old linens and carpet and yes the drapes didn't match anything, (not a huge deal), front screen door had a missing screw and at 1 point we were completely locked out, mattresses are clearly outdated and extremely firm and uncomfortable, continental breakfast the next day was a joke, coffee with no cream and bagels with no butter, after the desk clerk inquired as to if my room needed cleaning that day and I said YES!!, fast forward 8 hours later in the day when we came back to our room, opened the door and guess what we found! 1 bed was made and 1 bed was untouched! Scratching my head for awhile I decided to go back to the front desk, the young lady working kept saying to me that she didn't understand the problem! Really who makes 1 bed???? Ridiculous!! So I make the other bed. Before bed my 6 year old niece tried to take a bath with disgusting yellow water! (Actually scary). Pool was not heated unless you consider it happening due to mother nature (lol) and Wi-Fi was horrible slow! I have been coming to North Bay for almost 40 years and I will never, NEVER stay here again, and I will shout from the rooftops how horrible my stay was! What a way to almost wreck a vacation, Good thing I try to make the best of any situation! Bottom line dont stay here, go up the street to the Travelodge…
I love rustic mom and pop roadside motels and am not very fond of sterile hotels with windows that won't open and additional creature comforts that are lost on me. Don't need all that except a clean room, clean sheets, WiFi, a microwave, and a refrigerator. And I also prefer to park right outside my room. The Franklin Motel was just what I was seeking and was perfect. The neighborhood was very peaceful for it's location near traffic. And don't forget to grab breakfast (or any meal for that matter) at the nearby restaurant, Terry's Place. I would stay here again.
For a motel , it was clean. People at the front desk were funny and really professional. I'd recommend to go there for a night or even couple of days. They are pet friendly 🐶👌. If you go just across the street, there's a park that you can bring pup and enjoy the beautiful view.
We were on our way to Temagami from Toronto, it was a good short overnight stop. They left the key on the door, and let us registered next morning as we arrived after 10pm. Our room #3 was clean, paint is new, there is a fridge, microwave and good wifi. The breakfast was enough with coffee, yogurt, cereal, and bagel, and fruits.
Facility is clean but dated. Repaiirs amaturist. Breakfast not put out until 8:00 a.m. When i checked out i had to rring bell as office is on the same hours as breakfast. The day i stayed, all vehicles had left by 7:30, so i imagine no one had the breakfast offered.
