We stayed in Ottawa with a group in January. The stay overall was pretty nice. Hotel was quiet and very clean. Ample lighting and outlets in the rooms. The kitchens, bathroom and King bed was nice. The pullout for the kids was a bowl and the sheet was not made for the pullout. The Breakfast cost was inconsistent among the group. Some of us it was complimentary and others were charged so that was kind of frustrating. When I called ahead, I was initially told it was complimentary and then told it was not. When I showed up, I was told it was complimentary. For four of us over four days, this was a pretty important detail. The deal breaker for me was the oversized parking for vehicles over 5'9". We have a small SUV truck and measurements indicated it would not fit in the garage. Traveling from the states, this was not a headache I wanted to deal with so I just took the oversized parking. The location was a block and a half away. I was uneasy about it being the city, but we did not have any issues with break-ins. We did how ever have a number of issues with the lot which was right next to a construction zone. There were literally cranes moving material over the vehicles. The night we showed up it was a sheet of ice from snow melting and freezing. We were struggling to walk from the car to the sidewalk and were very concerned about others sliding into our car. I mentioned it to the front desk and they recommended we park on the street somewhere else. Mind you I just paid $30 to park in a gravel lot and this lot is not owned by the hotel. The next day we went out to find we were actually sharing the lot with construction workers, so spots were very limited. The day we departed, my son was getting in the car and with the warmer temperatures, noticed a large piece of wire sticking out of the ground and on closer inspection, picked up a hand full of nails and screws. In Summary, the room was very clean and updated and the staff was constantly working hard to keep the place clean. We were able to walk to a number of places for eats, brews and coffee from this location. I know that staying in large cities is difficult, but the parking situation is a game changer with anyone that has a normal sized SUV. I know for our large group, many of us were disappointed with the parking arrangements as they made things difficult for loading and unloading as well since there is only the small front entrance to do that.…
Great for families, good room space. We stayed on the one bedroom. The hotel was very clean, rooms cleaned to perfection, my son is allergic to dust and pets, we had no problem because the room was cleaned properly including the kitchen. Staff was great from check in to check out which can be done through the app. Housekeeping amazing, made the room looks fresh and clean specially during COVID time. Highly recommend also for the location, metro station just on the corner, near the main attractions, walk distance. Will definitely come back.
Great location downtown however, multiple issues during our 7 night stay. Front of house staff did a reasonably good job at resolving the various issues however, I suspect they need more back end support by management. A little disappointing to have to visit reception over multiple days to remind them of the same things (housekeeping related, no hot water in room - maintenance issue etc). Note to management… Rather than reception staff taking notes on paper maybe investigate using a work order management system to track and escalate guest issues.. Follow on note. We stayed at Homewood Suites Hilton a few days after this stay and must report that it was a good stay with no issues.
Very pleased! We weren’t sure what we were getting into as the price was one of the more reasonable, on the lower side, for Ottawa. Once we easily checked in and walked in wow! Very clean, nicely decorated open entrance and corridors! Walked in to our room on 13th floor - one bedroom king suite soo much room - pull out couch and even a chaise lounge attached to couch could use for an extra bed for an up to 12yr old if needed! Kitchen had everything- microwave, sink, dishwasher large full fridge and freezer, dining table and chairs, lots of extra room to spread out! Breakfast included was pretty good, all the regular eggs, bacon, beans, cereal, easy fruit and yogurt etc. Train -underground was just outside the door for quick access to downtown..yet is only 10-15min walk! Highly recommend Plate gastro pub and OCCO across road under holiday inn yummy! Pool area is very warm, pool was clean and spacious, workout room was spacious and overlooked the pool- i heard it was nice and cool in there! Also the hotel lobby/ restaurant was great we had charcuterie board and some wings and beer for a snack, Will definitely be back! …
I was very impressed with how helpful and nice all of the staff were throughout the hotel. The cleaning staff were friendly and cheerful, the front desk staff were helpful and efficient, and the servers in the restaurant and bar were very pleasant. I felt that they often went above and beyond what I would expect. The facilities were nice and well-maintained, but it was the staff that made our stay great.
First, the check in: I was interrupted twice by the agent answering the phone. Why does the person on the phone get priority? I was there first! Next the room: poorly equipped for the price ($270 per night). There were two of us, but only one knife and one fork and one wine glass (other utensils etc were adequate). One very small el cheapo shampoo and tiny bar soap for the shower. No housekeeping since they want 24 hrs notice even tho there's a notice in the bathroom saying just call the front desk for housekeeping (no mention of 24 hrs notice). There's only a small sofa couch even tho there's room for a comfy chair. It's called a "studio suite" (to justify the price I suppose) but it's really just a conventional, smallish hotel room with a small kitchenette and no dining area. …
The hotel is nice, however no service at all. I cannot contact front desk, they immediately put you on hold and leave you there. I try to reach room service, nobody ever answers. Terrible and frustrating.
The hotel is conveniently situated for walking to government buildings and downtown. Check in was easy with helpful staff. The room was big and comfortable with a king size bed, large bathroom, fridge and microwave. The big disappointment was the breakfast, which was very limited in its offering.
A good hotel to stay while your Ottawa visit. Good location at a walkable distance from Parliament hills. Lot of nice restaurants around. Parking is limited and will have to pay extra for it. Rooms are good; won't say super spacious. Included breakfast was good. The hotel is in a tight spot but can't complain about that as most streets near Parliament hills are.
We spent 3 nights at this hotel. If you are like many of us and have a VPN on your cell phone, staying at a Hilton associated hotel like this one may prove to be a decision you come to regret. As on previous occasions when staying at Hilton associated hotels, the VPN caused the Internet system that most Hilton associated hotels seemingly use, to completely mess up how my cell phone worked on the internet while I was there. The hotel itself is new, seems to be quite well managed and is very conveniently located in downtown Ottawa, just a few blocks from Parliament. Staff, for the most part, were very pleasant and helpful. However, some aspects of the hotel are lacking, especially given that it was only very recently designed and built. The toilet is extremely annoying. The water level in the toilet bowl is too high, if you know what I mean, complicated by what I would describe the toilet as having a very odd, low-profile design. The hotel does not provide heat or air conditioning during the shoulder seasons, only a fan setting on the thermostat to circulate air. When determining timing of a stay, one may want to consider this. We had a one-bedroom suite. The heating/air conditioning/fan unit is a ducted style. It is located within an enclosure in the bedroom. When trying to sleep, it is noisy with the fan on medium and very noisy with the fan on high. There is no door between the bedroom and the vanity area of the bathroom, a very poor and annoying design if people go to bed at different times. The toilet/bathtub area does have a door, but the light switch turns on lights in both this and in the vanity area, so if one needs to turn on the light when getting up during the night, it brightly lights up the bedroom as well. If you cannot find all the dishes and cutlery that one would expect, look in the dishwasher. Nobody has apparently noticed that the set screw in the bathtub handle is loose. The handle is very heavy. Should if fall off, the damage to the enamel on the tub could be considerable. We left it sitting on the edge of the tub. The room needs a good dusting. Just one example is that the base of both lamps beside the bed were caked in dust! The entrance to the underground parking garage has a sharp turn right at the top and is very narrow and steep, so extreme caution is required. The included breakfast was just average at best. The hotel does not have either the local or national news channels for our National broadcaster, CBC, which is disappointing at best.…
