Ottawa Marriott Hotel is the ideal place to rest, go on vacation with your family, and enjoy the convenient location in the city's center. I stayed with my wife for five nights on this property. First of all, the location is ideal because it is downtown. Second, they offered us a buffet breakfast, included for being a diamond member, and an appetizer in the restaurant during evening hours because the lounge was closed. Third, the room we stayed in was a suite, which was an excellent option since it had two bathrooms and a spacious living room with a beautiful view. We recommend the hotel not only for what it offers but also for the people who are very friendly, always happy, and willing to help. Customer service was noted. Samir Manhas, the service manager, made us feel welcome and at home, so we will return soon to spend another time in this beautiful hotel.…
We had a lovely comfortable and very clean room on the 22nd floor. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Hotel is in a great downtown Ottawa location walking distance to many spots including the Byward Market. We’d stay here again for sure.
I stayed for one night at the Ottawa Marriott on a points redemption while in Ottawa, as the points cost was attractively low for what I thought would be a typical Marriott experience. I was wrong and I’m glad I didn’t pay the cash rate. The staff at checkin were really nice, and I was upgrades to a large corner room with a view of parliament, which is where the good stops. The room was spacious, but very worn and dated. The bathroom is very small, bathtub had grime, a hair and worn down adhesive grip on the bottom. There was pen writing on the back of the bathroom door, gouges and scratches in the wall, and dirty windows with grease / sweat stains from someone. During the night, the whistling from in between the sliding patio doors was almost unbearable. I finally used the luggage holder and wedged it in the sliding door to fully seal it. I used the lounge for evening snacks, and breakfast. They reused the cold cuts that had been out for the evening in the morning as well. Breakfast was okay, but typical of what you’d get at a residence inn etc. staff were nice though. The gym area is pretty large but freezing cold due to it being right next to the outdoor patio. The heated pool was nice and I took advantage of that. I would not pay the price they normally ask for a room here. For slightly more you can stay at the Fairmont, Westin or Andaz. Likely won’t return…
marked Family but not (teens) was with my sister to visit our uncle, a veteran for Remembrance weekend. The hotel was terrific not because of the structure but because of the people who staff it. Everything was clean and comfortable as expected of a Marriott brand, but it was the staff that made it. From the door to the front desk to the floor the staff wanted to be of help. It was a great 3 nights in our 2 rooms. The hotel location was perfect for all we wanted to do. War Museum, Holocaust Memorial, Firefighters Memorial, churches, historic buildings, Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal.
So this hotel has very spacious rooms but they are a bit outdated in style. The elevators do not work unless you have your room card with so don’t loose it! However the convention center is very modern and spacious and right next to the lobby. Staff is very friendly and diligent. Plus good local restaurant.
The location of the hotel is ideal as you can walk to the majority of the attractions Ottawa. The decor of the hotel is dated and could use a good refresh. The front desk staff was cordial but I have experienced friendly individuals. My biggest complaint was the food service. Had access to the Exec Lounge which was very disappointing. If you want to have a beverage and no more than you will be fine. I was expecting far more and was disappointed. The breakfast offering was so limited that I ended up going down to the restaurant for dinner. At no time was there an offer to offset the cost of the breakfast due to the paltry offerings in the Exec Lounge. The overall attitude was one of indifference. If you looking to optimize the location and amenities are not important than you will be pleased. I was looking for a complete package, thus the neutral review…
The location of the Ottawa Marriott is only slightly off the downtown core, but close enough that it's an easy walk to the Parliament Buildings, the Rideau Canal and the Byward Market. The staff are what make this hotel extra special. Veronika (front desk), Samir (front desk supervisor), Monika in the restaurant, and Justin and Francene in the concierge lounge. These are very special people whom we hope to meet again soon!
Had ups and downs. Room was small, but I did buy the smallest room. Day 1 we had housekeeping but not day 2. When I talked to front desk they said they only did it on request. Strange! I requested it, and a half hearted job was done. No clean cups etc. Have to go down and get my one supplies. It would be nice if they had a better convenience store instead of a couple small bags of chips. No clean towels at pool, even after I called down and asked. Service doesn’t make you feel special. Except, I had one front desk staff compliment my nails and one waiter really make my meal special. Games room was pretty broken down. That was one of the reasons we chose this hotel. For the price we paid, I just expected way more. Like breakfast would be nice. Those are my complaints, but it wasn’t bad overall. Good location. Good restaurant. Decent.…
I have stayed in a lot of Marriott hotels and this is by far one of the worst. The only reason it’s getting 2 stars is for the convenient location. Rooms are in definite need of improvement and housekeeping needs to be stepped up. There were stains on the towels and bed sheets - totally unacceptable.
We had a pleasant stay at the Ottawa Marriott. Our room was of good size and comfortable. There was nice carpet in our room which seemed new although otherwise the decor was a bit dated. We requested housekeeping daily which was very thorough and we appreciated the good service. The Club Lounge with beautiful views is now open for breakfast (until 9AM) and also offers snacks in the evenings. Offerings for both were limited but all good. The attendant in the Club Lounge was very welcoming and cheerful. Would stay here again.
