Our family of 4 needed a hotel near the airport between connecting flights so our expectation was not high. We always had good experience with other Hampton Inns so this was just an easy choice, assuming a known quality hotel and also close to the airport. The Good about this hotel - 1. close to airport 2. free shuttle (details to follow) 3. has a couple restaurants just across from the parking lot if you don't want to venture out too far 4. check-in was quick The Bad - 1. Free shuttle only starts at 6am so if you need to catch an early flight you'll need to find a taxi. In our case, we had to pre-book a taxi the night before because we needed to get to the airport at 4:30am. 2. The hotel shuttle was just a plain white van with no signs indicating it's for Hampton Inn. Driver was not in any kind of uniform and when I knocked on his window trying to inquire, he came out and yelled 'What's going on'. Well not exactly what I expect a hotel shuttle driver to identify himself that way. When I asked if he's from Hampton Inn the answer was yes. But in retrospect any random guy can give me the same answer and we just kinda need to trust that driver that he's a legitimate Hampton Inn shuttle driver. The whole short trip to the hotel we were wondering if we would end up getting mugged. Just not a good feeling and I think the hotel can handle this a lot better, how hard is it to give this driver an uniform with a hampton inn logo, or print a hampton inn logo on a piece of paper and put it on the dashboard. At least something to make your shuttle and driver look a little bit more legitimate and make your guests feel a little bit safer. 3. As mentioned earlier we pre-booked a taxi to pick us up at 4:15am, turns out the front desk forgot to book it for us. When we got down to the lobby and looked for the taxi, that's when the front desk guy realized he forgot about it. So we waited for another 10-12 mins for the taxi to come. (taxi fare from hotel to airport was less than $20) 4. Not all electric outlets are working, in our room the one attached to the side table lamp didn't seem to work. Had to search high and low to have enough outlets to charge 4 phones and 4 apple watches. The Very Bad - The mattress was the absolute worse, I have never stayed at a Hampton Inn that have mattresses that dip down about 2 inches and with no support whatsoever. I'm not a big person, but my husband is so the whole night I was sinking and rolling to my husband's side. All I needed was a few hours of sleep between flights and I could not get that because of the mattress. Tossing and turning the whole night and could not find a good position. My back was hurting the next day like I was sleeping on an absolute garbage mattress the night before. We did not use the free breakfast, coffee wasn't ready during our stay, no other amenities were used. The poor rating is given based on the fact that everything we needed for a short stay in this hotel fell far short. I hope the hotel management will see this and consider making some improvements. Until then, I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone.…
Beautiful, clean, quiet hotel! Would recommend anyone stay here when visiting Ottawa. We booked it as a part of the Ottawa Tourism Promotion - book 2 nights and get up to $200 savings on various attractions and restaurants. We stayed for 4 nights. Free parking. Large and accessible rooms. Just 15 minute drive to downtown Ottawa. Close to multiple restaurants, the usual shopping places, and the airport. COVID Protocols in place - they don't come into your room for at least 3 days; but after 3 nights they will clean your room (i.e., to remove your garbage etc...) if you ask. We didn't bother, just kept our garbage contained and at home we'd go several days without change of towels or bedding, so not a big deal for us for 4 nights. Breakfast was packed by staff, based on your choices from the continental options. Pool is open, but you must book a time - only 5 people allowed at a given time, which to be honest is great, as pools are usually packed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Really great value for money. Felt very safe there during COVID Phase 3 of opening in Ontario - spaces well marked for social distancing, masks required at all times outside of your room; hand sanitizers beside the high tough elevators.…
The best end of what to expect at this chain. Modern, fun lobby/breakfast area, comfortable rooms, very clean, and VERY nice staff Location made for an easy 17 min drive downtown. Was worth it to us to have free parking overnight and lower cost hotel. Easy access to highways. Would recomnend!
Fully satisfied ! Excellent venue, stuff and services. I enjoyed the breakfast, varied... Beverage available 24/24. Quiet sleep, non smoking. Really an enjoyable stay. I will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Nice hotel, very comfortable bed, spotless room and an excellent breakfast buffet. Right next door to park and fly is handy. And there are restaurants within walking distance. I will stay again for sure.
I booked this hotel on May 24, at the last moment (after check in time) they told me they’re out of power. This is 3-4 days after the storm. I had to rush to make alternate arrangements for my stay. I still did not receive a refund. I called diamond help line end of May, I was told the hotel will respond in 2 business days. No response. I went to stay again on June 08 and asked for my refund. At the front desk the lady said she’ll process it now. Still no refund. It has been 3 weeks now. Not only the complete unprofessionalism of allowing your guests to book rooms when you had no power, several days after you lost power, but not even giving their money back when you turned them away. On top of that my room was disgusting, the bed closer to the door literally had stains on it and there was a hair stuck in the comforter of the second bed. Overall just a horrible experience.…
Very spacious room that did initially seem very well cleaned. However, upon getting in the shower, I found 2 clearly dirty washcloths on the shower rod, over the shower curtain. I mentioned this at the front desk and was offered a choice of a snack (Granola bar, etc..). I was a little taken aback by that.
After a two hour drive, I arrive at the hotel to find out it is shut down due to a power outage. No one called me to advise of the closure. In todays world access to guests should be available from another source. Someone came out to say they were closed and couldn’t offer a solution. After asking if other arrangements had been made for their guests……No other arrangements made. Not good customer service.
Booked this hotel off of trip advisor! It was exactly what I expected. Wishing that they had a bigger pool and more modern rooms but overall would recommend. Very clean, very good service. The free breakfast was a hit as well!
Booked last minute and close to the airport with free shuttle until 11:00pm. Friendly staff at the front desk. Very spacious and quiet room on 6th floor. Given a late checkout (3pm). Breakfast is excellent with a good variety of hot and cold food available (buffet style). All staff were courteous and friendly. The room was very clean and well appointed bathrooms with soap/shampoo etc. I definitely recommend this hotel if you need a place close to the airport.
