Very convenient hotel, within walking distance to many things and 10 minute walk to Byward Market. Cafe/bar in the lobby has multiple tables with quick snacks, drinks and premade food to buy. The room was nice but could have had more lighting. The only real complaint was the bathroom which also could have had more lighting but the bathroom door was not a real door. More like a saloon type door. Other Alt hotels seem to have this style of door as well and we would love it if this was changed.
We stayed here to have a weekend in Ottawa - enjoying the sights and bites. A short walk to Parliament, this hotel is in a great location. A large lobby with a large bar, our room was neat, tidy, comfortable and clean. A cool and trendy place to stay at a reasonable price - walking distance to everything.
For real. This is what I was told by the front desk when I called to ask where the pods are. A. ridiculous B. would have been helpful to know before 6 a.m. in the morning while getting ready for business meeting
Loved the decor in the room, which included an oversized origami-style $20 bill that kept catching my attention. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Very comfortable bed, and I liked the ability to stream Netflix to the TV from my phone. The only thing that would have been better was if the ALT had a restaurant/room service.
This hotel has a very trendy and cool vibe. alt Hotel Ottawa is a six year old facility, part of the French-Canadian Le Germain chain of hotels. The guest room, lobby and bar/cafe area have a trendy, European vibe. Guest rooms feature at least one rough finish wall and original artwork, Nespresso coffeemaker and importantly, DAILY housekeeping. Hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is five minutes walk to the Parliament building district, Sparks Street pedestrian mall and to a regional light rail metro station. Only cons—oven in the cafe was out one morning. Other than a coat closet, no storage drawers whatsoever although the saison accommodates generous luggage storage to facilitate “living out of your suitcase.” A property recommended for central Ottawa stays.…
My wife and I wanted a mini getaway over the Canada Day long weekend. We had checked out a couple of things but we decided to attend the big party in Ottawa. Found this hotel on Trip Advisor. Price was very reasonable for a downtown hotel, so we booked it kot knowing what to expect. We arrived and the front desk already had everything set up so check in was easy. Parking is across the street and it was $42 for 3 nights, which again is very reasonable. We had a room on the fourteen floor. Please note no room over looks the front street Slater, as the hotel also has condos and that takes up the front of the hotel. All rooms from my understanding are Queen rooms. Everything was clean and in good working order. Staff is super friendly and yiu should check out the bar/Cafe in the evening as it has a great vibe. Location to everythingnus great. Overall great hotel and this will be our number one hotel when we stay in Ottawa.…
Alt Hotel ottawa although no parking was mentioned--it just added one more reason not to stay here. we discovered there was no restaurant either--only a snack lounge. The hotel room was paid for by family on line--but on check in --they put a hold of 875.00 on my card--which we were not made aware of prior. we stayed 3 nights and had to ask 3 times for housekeeping to clean the room. Room was very tiny with no pictures on the wall--there are no drawers for clothes--pretty bare bones. i understand these are enviroment friendly hotels which is fine--but not worth what they charge--Days Inn rooms are larger and better . Some staff on desk did not understand English very well so explaining things was not easy. To add insult to injury--the day after checkout--i found out that they had charged my credit card for the entire stay instead of family who booked the stay. When i called i got push back that we should have been asked this question on check in--thats their problem--not ours. i would not recommend anyone stay at this hotel--Ottawa has many great hotels to choose from…
Visited this hotel for a business meeting and was surprised by the ‘casualness’ and continuous inefficiency from check in, to housekeeping, to the cafe/bar. I suppose it’s trendy but I’m not sure where poor customer service like being ignored, or greeted with a ‘what?’ or sitting with an empty drink for an hour ever wants people to come back. No restaurant - just a casual cafe that has a sad excuse for bar service. Rooms are minimal - no king size beds, nothing plus in the rooms - just the basics. The good? Rooms are quiet, dark and beds are comfortable. Location - ok. Easy walking distance to restaurants. Meeting rooms? Standard. Comfortable. Catering? Good It was the service. I can live with a basic hotel but the customer aero e was so poor I was continually astounded. I would recommend spending your hard earned money here or that of your organizations.…
I stayed here while setting up my son at the university. The hotel had a great vib, simple and modern, it had everything I needed. The last time I stayed at Le German, I liked this just as much. The staff were friendly and I love Happy Goat, I always go there when in Ottawa so very happy to have one in our hotel!
Another lovely stay at The Alt in Ottawa. Very laid back vibe. Rooms are sparse, but welcoming. Beds are comfy! Love the lounge - fantastic staff. Great place to unwind after all-day meetings. First rate coffee selections in the cafe every morning. Excellent downtown location. Hope to be back soon.
