Stayed for 1 night... took the UP train in from Pearson which is only $12.00 and fantastic! 3 min walk across the street to hotel. Stayed in renovated room of this classic. It was comfortable but small for Canadian standards. Coffee maker was good, and they sent free water to the room for no charge when I asked at check... More

Nice older hotel with remodeled rooms. Convenient location to Rogers Center, Air Canada Center, and right across the road from Union Station. Good bar selection within walking distance along Front Street. Beds are comfortable and you get a good nights sleep. Parking was expensive at the hotel would recommend taking public transit if it is at all an option.

We ordered the quiche. It was bland pastry tough, sweet potato fries cool had to ask to reheat. Would never go again too expensive for some thing we did not eat. Wine also was expensive. I guess we should have enquirer about the price. Library bAr.

I'm a frequent Fairmont traveler: they've recognized me as such with membership in their elite version of the Presidents Club which supposedly comes with all sorts of privileges. In this case, at this property, the privileges are a tiny room (I paid extra to be on the Gold Floor) a lumpy mattress that needed replacing years ago, interior finishing and... More

We booked a Luxury (renovated) Room with city views for 3 nights on hotels.com. At check in the front desk staff offered us an upgrade to a larger room of the same quality at an additional $50 per night. Being on vacation we said yes - big mistake! The room was larger in size but had zero views - we... More

Great hotel with a very clean, grand lobby area. The updated rooms are very nicely furnished and has a lot of upgraded amenities, despite being on the small side. All the staff is very friendly and it's worth it to stay at this hotel!

The Fairmont Royal York Hotel is a beautiful hotel steeped in history and most conveniently located right across from Union Station. The staff is fantastic and the hotel very well maintained. Although royalty have stayed with them, they seem to give every guest a royal experience. Would highly recommend.

We arrived at the hotel thinking we had two rooms only to find out we had only booked one. Despite being very busy with the Grey Cup, the desk clerk was able to book us into another room with the same rate as the first. From the start he was extremely accommodating. The stay was great, the room was great... More

One of the most beautiful hotels I've stayed in located across the street from Union Station. Everything in the room was upscale and high end. The bed was comfortable and the room elegantly decorated. Because of the time period the Fairmont was built the room (king bed) was "tight." No closet or place to put clothes. Take small suitcase because... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
