Built in 1909. Rooms decorated white on white with gold and black accents. Wonderful hardwood floors. Free water! Robes. The staff is friendly, accommodating and aanticipate your needs. We truly felt like we were guests at this lovely little hotel. There is no room service but the restaurant is great. They have large portions at reasonable prices and they leave...

We chose this hotel based on reviews by other people here on TripAdvisor as well as the photos they've shared (the rooms looked impressive enough compared to the other hotels we were choosing from). As tourists visiting Toronto for the first time, location is very important to us - and the hotel's location couldn't be better! It was a 15-20...

I found this hotel through an agency, and took a chance on it given its location. A good choice, as it's roughly half-way between Union Station & the Eaton Centre on Yonge Street. King street with its TTC station & streetcars are just outside the hotel, so very easy to get to other attractions in and around Toronto. The hotel...

The location is the best part of this hotel. We took the train to Toronto and it's a very short walk to the hotel. You can get very near to it via the PATH as well. Reception was a little cool but during the rest of our stay everyone seemed friendly enough. Room was clean, tiny and we had zero...

The hotel has a distinctive, classic early 1900's glass and iron facade however the interior rooms and reception has recently been updated. The rooms while a little small, were modern, hip and clean with a very comfortable bed. The reception area was pleasant and the staff were warm and efficient. The dining room is adjacent to the reception and the...

This hotel is an absolute gem. The location is terrific, the staff is efficient and friendly. The rooms and common areas are nicely decorated and the beds and linens are wonderful to sink into after a night enjoying the city. The rooms and facilities have always been clean. This was my first stay and overall, I am very satisfied. The shower was very hard to regulate temperature. It was more of a russian roulette of hot and cold. The day we left, the only elevator was our of order...so that really added to my step count for the day, but I suppose that was a good thing. Great...

Great location. Basic amenities. Service was good. Didn't have umbrellas for travellers at the desk which was slightly inconvenient but not a deal breaker. Rooms are small but neat and clean. Wood floors are a little cold. Overall a funky little boutique hotel in downtown.

We booked a last minute stay on hotels.com and glad we did. Parking can be found just around the corner underground for $20 per night. The room was just as expected, was clean and all in working order. Free wifi and newspaper if required. Restaurant downstairs (costs extra), open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. We will be staying here again!

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
