My wife and I stayed here one evening to see a show. Our stay was Nothing short of phenomenal! From the hot Tubs on the roof, to the room which had an outstandingly comfortable bed, to the elegant yet "old school" attentiveness that most hotels seem to have forgotten. Additionally, everything is within a 2 mile walk! Already planning our... More

The Grand Hotel was, in fact...pretty grand! I will say, we drove in from the U.S. and were concerned at first - this area is under significant construction right now (as one Toronto local we ran into joked, their local bird is the "Construction Crane"), and the parking garage is a bit of a tight squeeze, but our impression changed... We stayed at the Grand Hotel for 4 nights and had a very nice time. The hotel is in a good location to explore the entire city. Everyone on staff, from the doormen to the front desk staff to the cleaning people, were incredibly nice and helpful. The rooms are a great size and we were very comfortable staying there... More

Just spent a great 6 days at the Grand Hotel on Jarvis Street. Location was good really handy for the Eaton Centre. The hotel reception staff, bar and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was good although the same everyday there was plenty to choose from. The hotel is very clean, beds are very comfortable, although... More

I have previously stayed at this hotel, and this most recent visit makes this my third time is still a charm. My daughter had a cheer competition in the area and we wanted to stay over night to avoid delays of traffic and the closures from the Santa Claus Parade. We even elected to stay an additional night, which proved... More

Old hotel. furnitures are broken, paint is gone. Urgent need of renovation. Avoid at any cost, until the hotel is renovated. A disgrace that such 4* hotels are still not run with North American standards. it is hard to understand why this hotel is not renovated. I could have been unlucky and got an old room - the front desk... More

What an absolutely fabulous hotel. Every one of the staff are very friendly and helpful. We went off to Niagara Falls for a couple of days and the staff were more than happy for us to leave one of our bags with them until we came back for our second stay at the Grand. Easy 5 -10 min walk to... More

We had a beautiful room, upgraded to a suite. Large comfy bed and decent bathroom albeit in need to TLC - shower head in need of replacement. Good front desk service, quite elegant common areas, beautiful pool area and nice hot jacuzzi! Breakfast buffet spread was good too, though if catering for a more international clientele more variety needed (smoked... More

It was brilliant. The location is very good, on the intersection of Dundas St West and Jarvis Street. About 50m to the 505 streetcar which takes you to Spadina and chinatown one way and Danforth and Greektown the other way. It's about 5 minutes walk along Dundas to the subway and 10 minutes walk down Jarvis St to St Lawrence... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
