My boyfriend and I loved our time at Downtown. We visited in the run up to Christmas and it's more than we expected. Great location right next to the underground so easy access to the city. There was a snowstorm when we were there and our room was lovely, cosy and warm which was just what we wanted after exploring...

Overall we really liked the Downtown Home Inn. The Inn was very well located in terms of accessibility to the city, with quick and easy access to the underground, however I would say it is in a more run down area of town with some homeless people knocking around. That being said we certainly never felt in any danger or...

I had a great stay overall at this b&b and it suited the purposes of my trip. Positives: Located not far from a metro stop so easy to get to. Lovely area in the gay village with plenty of shops and food places around. Room was a decent size for one or two people, bathrooms were clean and proficient for...

We chose this hotel for the location – close to the subway and to family we were visiting. It worked really well for us. Our bed was comfortably firm and we had a good, quiet night’s sleep. We had one shared bathroom on our floor for three bedrooms plus use of the one upstairs if needed. The bathroom on our...

First of all you can ignore Aeusher review below, i arrived here on the same night she was here and after a 8 hour flight from the uk, she told me to be quiet moving my luggage into my room. She then refused to say good morning, when I tried to engage her in a conversation the following morning. She...

Booked for one night through an external website. It is not an Inn or a bed and breakfast, but is almost like a short-term stay rooming house of sorts. There are no staff on-site; you are sent an email with the entry code to the building. The owner forgot to leave a key to my room, so I had to...

I have mixed reviews of this place. I am aware that there is no reception but I was not prepared to have the door opened by other guests with a vacuum cleaner sitting on the carpet square in front of me. I had arrived for the first time in Canada and had just got off the plane and therefore felt...

This is a small bed and breakfast just minutes away from the subway in a quiet section of downtown Toronto. An all you can eat continental breakfast is provided each morning. While I was there the selections included bagels, bread for toasting, fruit, yogurts, tea, coffee, juice, donuts, eggs, and American cheese slices (not sure why the website says cheddar--maybe...

We are in our 70's- were never backpackers in the 60's- but we have had a wide and wonderful experience of accommodations across Canada and around the world. For value, privacy, and location- I could not have asked for a better place to stay for our 48th anniversary celebratory weekend than the Downtown Home Inn. We reserved online and were...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
