The Canopy By Hilton Toronto Yorkville stands out for its cleanliness and modernity, with guests consistently commending the spotless rooms and well-kept facilities like the swimming pool and gym. Nestled in a prime location, the hotel is a hit among travelers for its easy access to the subway and nearby attractions. Visitors are charmed by the stylish, tech-forward rooms, despite some noting minor design and service issues. While the modern amenities receive high marks, some guests feel the costs, including parking, don't quite match the value offered. Nevertheless, the hotel's service garners acclaim for its attentive and welcoming staff.

I never stayed in a canopy before and apparently this is the only one in Canada. Awesome vibe to the entire hotel and impeccable service. It is modern done right, it feels unique and special, quirky rooms and common areas and that's cool with me. Cool features in the rooms with lighting and art work and you name it, this is euro modern luxury in North America. The transfer lounge is a most spectacular feature that I wish more high end hotels would offer. They had private lockers to store items including stuff from stores and showers and private bathrooms for before and after check out. The only negative that someone alluded to is Bloor-Yorkville lost a bit of its shine over the last few decades. There are high end stores, but there's also a lot of run down stuff too.....I used to love the old Bay Store. Oh well, things change. And int the case of Canopy as a new hotel, that's a great change!

The brand new Canopy Hotel by Hilton was nothing less than spectacular!
We stayed 4 nights just after the property opened and we were truly amazed by the level of professionalism, hospitality, and a genuinely caring and gracious staff.
Selena, Alex, Iogo, Fanette, Khushboo, Saki, and Anna were a delight. Extra kudos to Selena.
The food served in Dia, one of the most beautiful restaurants in the city, was nothing short of perfection.
The rooms are original and fun, as is the lobby and public areas. Great job Canopy! Thank you for making our stay very special!

I Booked this hotel based on the location (close to Yorkville), travellers photos and reviews (despite some negative reviews). I was personally not disappointed: the rooms were nicely laid out with a beautiful decoration, and very well appointed (lights, curtains…). The staff were very friendly and professional. Breakfast was decent.
One important (from my pov) point to improve though, is the cleaningness in the bathroom. There were hairs in the shower, but I liked the staff reaction upon seeing them for himself: without any fuss, I was moved to another room and was assured that the matter would be discussed with the manager, to ensure further training of their staff. When I came back to my room later on, I found a note apologising for the inconvenience and offering free breakfast.
Overall, a very pleasant stay and I would recommend this hotel

This hotel is new, opened in 2023. Based on the reviews, we had high expectations. Unfortunately, these expectations were not met. There is no self-parking and valet parking is $55 per day. Checkin is confusing because you go in by a back door and have to go to the second floor to find reception. Navigating the maze of hallways to get to your room is a challenge.
The room we had was designated as accessible. It had an automatic door, as well as a bathroom equipped for mobility challenges. Everything in the room is controlled from two small touch pads, one outside the bathroom, the other by one of the bedside tables. This setup might appeal to some people as being high tech, but for us it was not user friendly at all. For example to open the curtains you have to find the right button on the touchpad on the far side of the room. The buttons are very small and you have to be close to them to read them. Almost every light is controlled by buttons on these two touchpads. To turn off the lamp on one bedside table, you have to ask the person on the other side to find and press the right button on the little keypad. How is that user-friendly?
There were several serious design/construction errors in our room. First, the pocket door on the bathroom had no handle. Once closed you had no visible means of opening it again. The walk-in shower only had a handheld shower, with no overhead shower head. ***The floor in the bathroom sloped away from the shower’s trench drain at the wall, and toward the door. Being accessible, there is no ledge separating the shower floor from the rest of the room. As a result, unnoticed by the user past the shower curtain, most of the water from a five minute shower flowed across the bathroom floor and under the door, flooding the vestibule.*** On checkout, the staff person acknowledged that this was a known problem that had been reported to management, but not yet addressed. We were offered a credit for the parking cost, but this issue should have been mentioned when we checked in! Better still, they should have taken this and any other rooms with the same problem out of service.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless you are a fan of useless electronic gadgetry.
In summary, this hotel does not come close to living up to its price. Fortunately, we booked our room through a third party, so paid a substantially reduced rate. Regular rates are simply not justifiable.

From the moment I drove up the experience has been terrific. They offer valet parking, which while not cheap, is very convenient for the middle of the city. The check-in was very fast and efficient and they went out of their way to recognize your status. The room is modern clean and very comfortable. I had a nice welcome note and drink in the room as well as received an upgrade a check in due to my Hilton status. The room itself has a Nespresso machine and a refillable water bottle that is easily filled by a station that is just around the corner from the room. The refrigerator is not one of the traditional small dorm type where everything just falls out, it is actually a drawer, so it is very easy to take things in and out without them spilling all over the room. The room I was in had bath robes and high-end toiletries. The shower design is very considerate having a handle that allows you to turn on the shower and regulate the temperature without getting all wet as it is on the opposite side of the showerhead, allowing you to walk in easily and comfortably. The light switches are modern and easy to use and allow you to control lighting in the room with one button. Other attention to details are seen in the alarm clock on the nightstand, which also offers wireless charging for your phone. All these small details add up to a great experience.

This review is based on the fact we paid $469 a night for a standard room in the hotel.
The checkin staff were very friendly when we arrived, although the layout of the entrance from the street to the checkin desk is a little odd.
We were put in a room on the third floor that was pretty spacious, however it was an anointing room, for the first night this was fine but our second morning we were woken by our neighbours alarm and multiple phone calls, no sound proofing at all! We asked to change rooms which they did, although the room we were changed too was significantly smaller.
I liked the electrical controls, but they are a bit of a novelty, the room didn’t have enough surfaces and it would have been nice to have a mirror in the room to so hair and make up at the desk as I hate getting readying in a damp bathroom (there was also very limited space around the sink for getting ready). I am a tea drinker and there were 4 varieties of tea when we checked in, I drank one English breakfast tea and this was no replenished, and when we loved rooms again there was no English breakfast (I actually hid all the tea bags and then one was replenished), I know I could of called down to the desk to get some but it’s just hassle I don’t want. There was also a bit of an oddity in both rooms when we first got to them there were no hand towels, but once the room had been cleaned hand towels appeared?!
The location of the hotel is okay, although it’s not near downtown Montreal where a lot of the other hotels are. Overall the stay was fine but it certainly was not worth the price we paid for it!

We had a very disappointing stay. We were shocked to discover that the large tv had absolutely no way to access movies (paid or not). No streaming. Nothing that could be attached to make our event enjoyable.
Also, we had room service for dinner but nobody came to collect the considerable number of dirty dishes from our room, in spite of us calling the front test when we were finished.
Way too much $$. Very poor value. We won’t recommend this hotel to our out of town guests.

Opened in early 2023, Canopy by Hilton claims to offer a boutique hotel experience in Yorkville but technically borders the posh neighbourhood. Upon arrival, one must navigate confusing building circulation only to wait in line at the front desk. Thankfully, ample seating can be found in the lobby, where chic, contemporary design serves to elevate what is essentially a chain hotel. The room featured a calming palette of light wood with modern fixtures, although the bathroom had an awkward layout, and facing the interior terrace meant that curtains needed to remain closed for privacy. Amenities include an indoor pool and a well-equipped, albeit somewhat toxic-smelling, gym. As valet service is quite steep, a cheaper alternative is parking in the underground lot accessible from the adjacent No Frills grocery store. For travellers willing to overlook some operational inefficiencies, Canopy provides tasteful accommodations without sacrificing convenience.

The staff are all very friendly and welcoming, from the cafe, to the front desk. Great service! The rooms were really nice, everything smells new. It also has a heated pool and gym. There is a cozy restaurant but I didn’t have a chance to try it, will dine next time for sure. Location wise, it’s very accessible as it’s close to the subway, just takes about 5 mins. walk or less.

I’m a big fan of the Canopy brand in general, but I have a hard time loving this particular Canopy. It seems like it’s designed more to look great than to be great. For example, the electric controls next to the bed are unnecessarily complicated— there’s about 9 buttons to control different lights and shades and things, and it isn’t easily usable. You have to hunt through all of them and try to remember the difference between the sconce light and the halo. It’s needlessly complex and that makes it harder to use.

There is also a motion-activated night light under the bed, so if you get up in the middle of the night, it shines a light for you, which isn’t great if your partner if sleeping or even if you yourself want to try to go back to sleep. The night light is hyper sensitive, so it activates even if you just lay in bed and dangle your leg down. And there’s no way to disable it. If you don’t want lights going off every time you get out of bed, you have to shove a pillow under the bed to block the motion sensor or cover up the light.

I love the filtered water/ice stations (one of my favorite parts about canopy hotels!) but the ones I used here seemed a lot more temperamental than others. You have to hold your water bottle at exactly the perfect angle before water will dispense, but since there’s no instructions, you have to poke around til you figure it out.

There’s no little shelf in the shower stall, so if you bring your own toiletries, you have to either put them on the shower floor or balance them on top of the wall-mounted toiletry bottles.

I also didn’t love that there’s no door on the bathroom and only frosted glass around the toilet cubicle.

The bed was great — very comfy — and the blackout shades were an excellent touch. Very convenient location, close to the subway. And the decor is beautiful, very sleek and bright. It just all feels like it was designed without any context of how a guest will actually interact with all these things.

Dear Dcpatti, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I truly value your input and apologize for any inconvenience caused by the technical issues during your stay. While our water filters on each floor were intended to be a sustainable addition to our hotel, we understand that they may have negatively impacted your experience.
