The little 3rd-floor room I booked at Victoria's Mansion met all my needs and turned out to be cozy and comfortable. It was very easy to get to - I rode the "Flyer" from the Toronto Pearson airport, then took the subway to a transfer point quite near the hotel. It was really easy to use the door codes and...

This is a very modest, tacky and run down hostel, not a guest house or an inn. It is not quaint or authentic in any sense just tacky and barely functional. The first thing you will notice is the smell. I couldn't pinpoint why but the whole house smells like cheap, noxious hairspray. My room didn't have a window! Rather...

It has taken me a while to reply to this review as I had very mixed feelings about how to reply--we certainly were expecting it as you made it clear that you would write as many negative things as possible in as many places as possible, all as a result of the fact that you were charged $50 for losing...

The manager or owner Natalia was very helpful. Very clean. Very secure. Very accommodating. Nice gardens. Quiet. My husband in hospital nearby. We were not close to home. Old quaint. Parking off street. Would be close enough to subway or Eatons Centre. Close to all transit downtown toronto.

Staff were not very helpful. The building is in an area that seemed a little sketchy. The building is clean but don't show up early because your room will not be ready. The front desk is not manned and you have to make a long distance phone call to find the staff. Probably would not stay again.

Hi there. So very sorry you did not have a pleasant experience with us! As we are small our staff need to be a "jack of all trades" and so when you arrived early, the front desk manager was actually helping out in the laundry room! As well, as we don't want our guests to have to wait when they...

Got the basement room. The room is large and has a small kitchenette. The only problem is the funny tapping noise you get and it will go on at a regular frequency and the suddenly goes off. It sounds like coming from the floor above and could be leaking tap. The inn is an old Victoriana era house and don't...

This guest house was a saviour as it was affordable (I found the hotels in Toronto expensive) and so close to everything. Close to transport, round the corner from Church Street (a safe gay area), and also walking distance to most places. Less than 30 minutes walk to the closest shopping centre - Eaton Square Shopping Centre, also Bloor Street...

Stayed just one night, on my way to Saskatchewan. Chose this hotel because of a good location, and proximity to the metro. The hotel itself looks like an old mansion. It has narrow halls, so keep that in mind if you have a large or heavy suitcase. The rooms also look old fashioned, but they are clean and nice :-)...

Good accommodation close to nearby hospitals and eateries. Clean and comfortable rooms. Parking is a bit cramped if you have a larger vehicle, but workable. If you arrive late, make sure you read the provided instructions carefully to get in.

Nice neighborhood, pretty and peaceful front yard with pretty flowers and a cute little bench. Security door with code to enter (phone on wall that rings at front desk for your first arrival, then you will get your keys and code). My room was in the basement and I found that entering the hallway just beyond the front desk, even...

Loved the neighbourhood which is full of nice bars and restaurants. The house is old. Room no 9 was small but clean. Only remark is the air refreshing system in the, small but clean, bathroom was very noisy. Great to have a place to park the car. Would go again.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
