The name of this place is Chestnut Residence & Conference Centre. It is located near the University of Toronto and serves as a dormitory during regular school months. These rooms resemble a typical hotel room, they are not like the dorm rooms I have been in. Two queen beds with very firm mattresses. The hotel is within walking distance of...

Stayed here this past August for 8 nights with my family. We had a large room with two beds which looked like it had recently been refurnished. Dorm-style furniture looked brand new in our room which was a surprise after reading some of the other reviews on TripAdvisor, so it must depend on which room you get - some rooms...

This is a dorm room with dorm room beds and dorm room desks ... and dorm room service. There is no wifi. If you have a Macbook Air like me, you can't use their ethernet connection. I did enjoy the lovely walk from the hotel to the convention center.

The property has huge rooms and with all facilities. I loved the breakfast with lots of options and quite lavish and satisfactory. Helpful staff. Great Location. Stayed there on my own and the experience was great! View of the city from the room, could almost see CN tower!

Open for tourists from May to September (the rest of the time it's a residence for U of T students) this former Holiday Inn offers a huge room, air conditioning, FREE delicious hot buffet breakfast, and FREE internet (they give you a modem, so you hook it up yourself) for only 119.00 Canadian per night! Best scrambled eggs I've ever...

If you're wanting somewhere to stay where you're going to be pampered and waited on hand and foot, this is not for you. These rooms are part of Toronto University residences, and as such are basic rooms. You have a bed, plenty of storage space, air conditioning and a bathroom with shower and tub. You don't have a TV, coffee...

I was going to a conference in Toronto and needed a cheap place to stay. We had trouble finding a room for less than $300 that was close enough to the conference. We ended up finding this place. While we were nervous to book it after reading the reviews we went ahead because the price couldn't be beat. Is it...

While this property appears to be housing students, after working at colleges and universities for 36 years I've never seen students housed in such deplorable conditions. They must be international students from third world countries that would think these are good housing conditions. The buffet breakfast is fairly basic and one that today's colleges would never think of providing. The University...

We stayed for 2 nights. It was a basic dorm room that was clean, comfortable and roomy. The bathroom was "tired" looking but excellent water pressure though the towels wereon the thin side. The beds were comfortable. The all you can eat breakfast was included in the price and included bacon, scrambled eggs, cereal, juice and at least 6 different...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
