My sister and brother-in-law stayed in a ground floor room of Ecolodge which is located at the intersection of Gerrard and Jarvis Streets. This is an area of Toronto that is known for street prostitution. And yes, they were awoken at 2:30 am by two men and their ladies of the evening. The next day the manager was unapologetic and...

We had to come to Toronto for a wedding and we stayed at the Econo Lodge on Jarvis. The room was lovely and clean, the bed was so comfortable, check in was easy and the desk clerk was hilarious. Very nice and very accommodating,we will definitely stay here again!

I stayed there one night. The person greeting me was quite helpful and welcoming. However she seemed very busy on the phone with people making reservations and asking questions. The hotel has no parking (I would even say it has no stopping area to unload luggage)! I was told there is some parking about one block away from the hotel....

We came to this hotel after spending a night at Comfort Inn right next to it. Rates were better and the room is way more spacious so the hotel did not seem that bad in comparison to our terrible experience the night before. We stayed here for 2 nights. Wi-Fi connection was very bad especially at night. Breakfast is a...

Location wasn't bad, but it was noisy. Breakfast wasn't good and bathrooms weren't cleaned properly. Also, the internet connection was weak. It wasn't the worst hotel, but for the price we payed we were expecting it to be better.

Decent hotel, room a little dirty and run-down. Parked about 1.5 blocks away in a lot for $14 a day. Nice staff, called a cab for us to go to Air Canada Centre. Breakfast is adequate. Wifi was pretty weak. Would probably stay again though. Book online though, charge twice the amount if you show up without a reservation.

Chose this hotel from the federal government list as an inexpensive spot near where I was having some meetings. Older property, but clean. Bath towels a bit smaller than I'm used to, but all clean & good to go. I had a room at the front of the building, and traffic noise was not insignificant - if you can't sleep...

Card readers are flaky and main entrance reader is broken so you have to wait outside until the desk attendant lets you in. Breakfast is awful. Beds are comfy though! Location is alright, it's right on a street corner, so it's hard to find a place to unload. We pulled into a hotel a block south on Jarvis and carried...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
