Amazing service from the moment we walked through the front door. Easy and speedy check-in. We stayed in the romantic getaway suite and it certainly was all of that. Wonderfully decorated with a two person jacuzzi, heated bathroom floor, four poster bed and beautiful decor. During weekends, they offer homemade cookies in the lobby and happy hour through the week. We enjoyed two great breakfasts while eating in the tastefully decorated lounge area. Close walking distance to the greatest restaurants in Charlottetown and a 10 minute walk to the beautiful waterfront. We can't wait to return.

We quite enjoyed our stay at The Great George. It is in a perfect location close to the wharf area, restaurants in a quiet area across the street from St. Dunstan's Basilica Cathedral. We had a beautiful little patio off the central courtyard. Staff were efficient and courteous. Where it fell short was in the details... the mattress was in need of a refresh... soft and springy... garage station quality toilet paper... that sort of stuff. That all said, I would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family. Definitely recommend.

We stayed in a king room in the Great George in Charlottetown for 2-nights in early-Oct ($153). As you probably know, the George in an amalgamation of historic buildings (covering an entire city block) into a beautiful boutique hotel. Our room, on the 2nd floor in the main building housing reception and the common areas, was spacious and, despite being well appointed with dark hardwood furniture (desk, 6-drawer chest of drawers, end tables), had a feeling of lightness from the light wood-plank flooring and the two windows. It had 2 upholstered chairs, a gas fireplace, and a nice throw rug under and around the bed, but was fully modern with a mini-fridge, wall mounted TV, and strong internet signal. As an extra plus, the bathroom floor was heated. The common areas, with a gracious feel of a home from the late 19th century, were used for an afternoon social (5-6 pm) with complementary wine and beer, a great opportunity to chat with other guests and appreciate the Charlottetown hospitality. They were also the venue for the complementary breakfast, described at a light continental, but actually a very satisfying full breakfast with eggs, sausages, muffins, croissants, juices, and the best coffee I've had in weeks. The hotel had a coin laundry (2 washers & dryers, $1.75/load) and free parking. It was also unique in our travels over the last 1.5 years in that it offered daily maid service – they had an option to join their green club for a $10 credit at local restaurants for foregoing the service – which we took, but they made up the room anyway. The George's location is excellent, an easy walk to several excellent restaurants, Province House, the waterfront boardwalk. The only disappointment in our visit was that all of Charlottetown's Confederation-related attractions were either bankrupt (Founder's Hall) or closed for renovation (Province House). Overall, the George offered excellent & helpful staff, beautiful & comfortable rooms, a perfect location and unparalleled hospitality. Nothing could be faulted – its a steal at the price.

We were on a 12 day trip around Nova Scotia and PEI. We arrived at The Great George in lovely Charlottetown, and we so thrilled. We were welcomed by the front desk staff and shown around the beautiful historic property. Our room was in a separate building; a king suite. Although a period property our room was tastefully modern. The hotel was charming, accommodating and so welcoming. Not once did they offer sub standard services because of the current Covid situation. Breakfast was simple, and handled safely and with grace. The place to stay in Charlottetown!

The Great George is a series of heritage homes that have been collected within a couple of blocks in the centre of this historic City. The buildings have been lovingly restored and formed into a first class Hotel. Fully modernized to provide all the comforts one might expect in a five star hotel (like underfloor heating in the bathroom ) while maintaining the character and feel of yesteryear. We stayed at The Great George for three wonderful nights (party of four) and cannot speak highly enough of the accommodations and service. Our suite was very spacious and came fully equipped with kitchen facilities and a much appreciated gas fireplace. Breakfast is served in a very comfortable lounge in the main building and is one of the best “Continental” breakfasts found in any Hotel ( Current Covid restrictions apply) Ian, the guest experience Manager is a treasure and helped us plan itineraries, recommend and book restaurants, and took care of our every request. It would be a mistake to stay anywhere other than the Great George when visiting Charlottetown.
