This unique hotel beautifully complemented the Montreal experience; old, charming, clean, freindly, and accomadating. Not a mainstream-type place -- but go to Orlando and stay in a Holiday Hotel if that's what you want. Quite simply, I can't think of staying elsewhere in Montreal: the Berri-UQAM station is two short blocks away and it affords ease of travel throughout the...

Their website is such a lie---this place is the pits....and I've stayed in some pieces in my time! We stayed for 3 nights, and then went off to Quebec City, and came back for 1 more night. Our room the first 3 nights was just tolerable enough (any worse I would def switch hotels), and the last night was a...

We booked this hotel based on several criteria. 1. We wanted to be close to the restaurant Laloux - it was a fast cab drive or a pleasant 15 minute walk away. 2. We wanted to experience downtown excitement and vibrancy - it was just outside the door. 3. We wanted interesting decor and eclectic design - Marilyn Monroe, Audrey...

I don't even know where to start with this place. The red lights outside should of given it away. When we opened up our room, there were 3 beds and a huge cameo light. When we left our room and came back later that day, someone was in our room because there was only one queen size bed and no...

We were very happy here: for ~60$ we got a nice, perfectly clean room with a good, huge double bed and a private bath (across the hall, but just two steps away) in the middle of Montreal, and they even had simple but good continental breakfast. Staff could be a little more attentive and smart about their own stuff, though.

This is by far the worst place I have been. I'm not sure how this hotel can be 3 stars. I stay with my wife in Ottawa in two stars hotel, and was a lot better than this three stars hotel in Montreal. No matter what the management's excuses are, there is no excuse for the state of this place....

This is by far the worst place I have seen. No matter what the management's excuses are, there is no excuse for the state of this place. The outside sign looks like the sign for a Sex Shop. Upon checking in (like a previous reviewer had wrote) it took awile for the lady behind the counter to aknowledge me. I...

I have been to the hotel on two previous occassions and never had any complaints, sure the area ain't Park Avenue, but it is very central between just about everything in the city, 5 minutes walk to the metro and to the bus station that gets you right at the airport. I was really looking forward to staying here again....

I really liked the hotel because of its unique decoration and location. The price is not the cheapeast I have found, but it was reasonable. My only complaint is that the bathroom is sort of spread out around the room: toilet in one cubicle, shower in another (separated with a curtain from the bed with no hook to hang your...

This hotel has some really unfair negative reviews against it. As always, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!! This is a budget hotel so if you want 5 * luxury then you will have to go elsewhere and pay for it. It always frutrates me that people book the cheapest hotel they can find and then moan that it did...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighbourhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centres, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
