This is an excellent hotel in all aspects except one. The posts that were used in the process of constructing a modern hotel are not always in the most convenient place. The one in our bathroom was an example: it interfered with free movement. However, given that we spent three nights at the auberge for little over $400 we can...

I stayed here with a friend and we both noticed how friendly and personal the staff were right away. Excellent location, great view. The room itself was very clean and had lots of character. Loved the exposed brick and large windows!

We stayed here for 4 days in February. What a great hotel! We stayed on the first floor in a queen bed room. Beautiful old world charm, super high ceilings and large room overall. The lobby always had hot quality coffee and the front desk was very attentive. For $670 USD for 4 nights, it's hard to beat.

My husband and I selected this location for a mid February adults only long weekend. We were attached by the small size of the hotel, it's location in the Old Port, and the character it seemed to possess. We were not disappointed. We arrived very late, nearly midnight, and a valet helped us with our luggage and took our cat...

I had the occasion to stay at the Auberge du Vieux Port (Old Port) in the old city of Montreal. It is a great location and a beautiful property. Very reminiscent of many of the European hotels I have visited, without the small rooms. Not cheap, but a great location to explore old Montreal.

This was a return visit to the Auberge du Vieux-Port. This hotel provides a very comfortable stay, and a convenient location. The proximity to the river is especially nice. The adjacent restaurant is very convenient and has a nice selection. The rooms are all different, and each has it's own personality- dating back to the days when this hotel was...

Stayed here for short extended weekend getaway in late January. Friendly staff, cool and rustic ambiance. Beautifully appointed rooms (love the exposed brick), and an excellent location for walking in and around Old Montreal. Quick and cheap Uber's anywhere else you need to go.

Overall a lovely boutique hotel, very clean, comfortable beds, amazing shower with multiple jets. Our first room was a standard queen and down a long corridor with steps, smallish, with view of the narrow street. It wasn't really special, but would have been fine. However we asked for a change because of a very noisy couple in the next room--and...

Having grown up in Montreal I am familiar with the old part of town but was unbelievably charmed by this hotel. The room was large, bright and a wonderful mix of modern convenience with old world charm. The sights and great restaurants are all within walking distance. Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A symbol of Old Montreal's rich history, Auberge du Vieux-Port is the area's only hotel settled along the Saint Lawrence River. The two structures that house its 45 rooms are over a century and a half old and once operated as warehouses, back when the waterway still forged city's life vein. With a classic, skillfully crafted make up, the idyllic inn's decor and architecture breathe an air of authenticity. Embrace time-honoured scenery, complemented by our team's warm, personable services. ... more   less
