Firstly, the location. In the heart of the old town, facing the river and park in front of the river. Easy to walk everywhere and a great view from the front-facing rooms. Secondly, the staff and service. From the valet to the reception staff, everyone was very welcoming, friendly and professional, with lots of useful tips about things to see...

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. We picked it because of it's location, reviews we had read and the fact that there was a special on for the room the weekend we stayed was a bonus. We were impressed as well because although I hadn't checked to see if there was a bath in the room we had...

This was such a great property for a quick weekend getaway. My friend has always wanted to go here. The spontaneous fireworks from the waterfront viewed from our windows were breathtaking. Thank you to the amazing staff for all the great food recommendations.

From the moment of booking, our personal concierge Lara, made us feel so welcome and provided us with the best stay experience ever! She could not have done enough to ensure such a memorable trip - from booking the right restaurants to our seats at Notre Dame for the Christmas mass - and being available throughout our 4 night stay...

The Hotel is along 'Rue de La Commune E' across from the Harbour. The walkway is right there and the river and far bank view is spectacular. The hotel is in a perfect spot for walking around the old city. The building was built in 1885 so the brick work is very interesting to see. The front desk, concierge &...

We stayed here over Christmas and we were completely blown away how nice the hotel was. The staff was very friendly, the concierge (Lara) was of great help getting us booked in restaurants for the holidays, and they had free hot chocolate every day as you entered. The attached restaurant (Tavern Gaspar) is where breakfast is provided (it was included...

This was my first time staying in Old Montreal, and its the best place in the city to stay. This hotel was great - clean, nice-sized, and the service couldn't have been better. They also have a nice little bar with free breakfast, which is good. We stayed here in winter, but I've also been here in summer - where...

The Auberge Vieux Port exceeded expectations from arrival to departure! Perfect location and friendliest staff. Add the breakfast at Taverne Gapsar -- you won't be disappointed! Everyone from Yamila at reception, to Julian at the bar, to Frederic as our maitre d'hotel made this an excellent trip (among many others whose names i forgot). Yamila provided my girlfriend and I...

I decided to propose to my girlfriend in Montreal, and went with this hotel for the perfect stay. The staff here went far beyond expectation, helping coordinate with the restaurant and the photographer, all while keeping it a surprise for my girlfriend. The experience was amazing and the place is beautiful!

We had a choice of hotel in Early Jan 2017 and opted for this one. It was perfect. Really helpful staff and a really beautiful room over looking the river. Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.

A symbol of Old Montreal's rich history, Auberge du Vieux-Port is the area's only hotel settled along the Saint Lawrence River. The two structures that house its 45 rooms are over a century and a half old and once operated as warehouses, back when the waterway still forged city's life vein. With a classic, skillfully crafted make up, the idyllic inn's decor and architecture breathe an air of authenticity.
