This boutique hotel (Auberge Bonaparte) is a treasure find, in the old part of the city. It's within easy walking distance of theater (next door), historic churches, boutique shops, and multi ethnic restaurants. BUT The hotel restaurant itself is the also tied for first place with only one other, in our experience. It turns out that Montreal French cuisine is...

Stayed here the last Saturday in April based on previous Trip Advisor reviews. Omg. Probably one of the best finds ever. We arrived late Saturday afternoon, we parked at the public lot just down the street. I went ahead to check in and my partner dealt with the car. While I was checking in, a staff member went to the...

Five star treatment without being pretentious. Smaller boutique hotel on a quiet street one block from Notre Dame Cathedral. An amazing group of welcoming and helpful staff. Every single person on staff was super friendly and so nice to us. Remarkably so. We only stayed one night, but the staff here made sure it was the best time we could...

I can't say enough great things about this hotel. Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The hardwood floors and the huge windows added to the charm Daily breakfast was excellent..food and service. Every staff member went out of their way to accommodate every need. A++ for customer service! Hotel location was excellent; close to excellent restaurants, and to...

Lovely appointed room with 2 queen beds, quality linens and toiletries. Spacious bath with separate shower. Delicious ala carte breakfast included. Staff welcomed us with a glass of champagne and most helpful with suggestions.

The Bonaparte easily met all our needs in a convenient location in the old town. We particularly appreciated the personal service of the concierge and the desk staff. We arrived too late to get a table in the restaurant but actually we enjoyed eating at the bar probably even more. The bartender was engaged in conversation, served us well but...

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Hotel Bonaparte in Old Montreal! This place is truly a gem of a hotel in all ways. We arrived in a huge thunderstorm and were greeted so warmly by the front desk staff who gave us each a flute of champagne to welcome us. Our room was a gorgeous room...

My wife and I stayed at the Bonaparte Auberge for four nights. It is considered a "boutique" hotel, and is located in Old Montreal. I had seen it in a travel guide, which gave it a very good review, so we decided to stay there from 4/20-24/17. I couldn't find a single thing wrong with it. The rooms are clean,...

Lovely boutique hotel. Friendly front staff. Excellent restaurant and breakfast included was delicious as well. Spotless room, comfortable bed. Great location for exploring Old Montreal. Only downside was street noise in the early morning and $20 per day parking. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel, which is attached to an outstanding restaurant, is located on a side street in Montreal's Old City. My husband and I came for a Valentine's Day getaway and to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We were greeted with a glass of bubbly, which was already a pleasant start to the day. I should add that all staff are bilingual...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
