This was an excellent Hotel that had a very high rating on Trip Advisor and it did not disappoint. We were in a "Queen" room in front of Hotel. The room was large and everything in it was large, including the bath and bed! Comfortable bed, excellent dining room and attentive helpful staff, who spoke English. Don't be put off...

after searching for a proper hotel that we can explore the various sights of Montreal, we decided on the Auberge Bonaparte. We were not disappointed after spending two nights. The hotel is right next to the Basilique Notre-Dame, within walking distances to the rest of the major sightseeing spots. For the rainy and cold days of late October, this location...

My husband and I spent two nights recently at the Auberge Bonaparte. This is a great location for exploring Montreal. Our room was clean and spacious, with a very large bathroom. The breakfast was great (although service was a little slow).

My 76-year-old parents impulsively drove up to Montreal from the States looking for a grand adventure. When they arrived, they needed help navigating a strange city and finding the services and experiences that would delight them. The Concierge at Auberge Bonaparte, M. Luc Lavoie, was the best friend they found in a city full of warm and gracious people. M....

Be advised, street the hotel is on is quite small. If you're expecting to take a tour bus while there, you'll have to arrange to pick it up elsewhere. Parking is close by. We had our room complete with breakfast. Very nicely done. Quiet dining room. Staff speaks English and is very helpful. Small bar between the lobby and the...

This hotel is in the Old Montreal section and ideal location for exploring the city and just around the corner from the Notre Dame Basilica. When we checked in we liked the size of our room, the hardwood floors, the quiet location looking out the back (nothing to look at but quiet), and the relatively large tiled bathroom with glass...

This was my first visit to Montreal and I particularly loved the old quarter. Loved the hotel and the restaurant was superb. Charming and comfortable room overlooking the beautiful Notre Dame Basilica and great staff. Yes, there were a few scuff marks in the bedroom and bathroom which may disappoint some, however the overall impression I received was "slightly faded...

Just had a five day stay at this property. The front desk staff were very courteous although note, there is no assistance with your luggage. Normally this would not be an issue but my husband was on crutches and I managed all the luggage up to our room on my own with no offer of assistance. Other than that small...

Auberge Bonaparte has been our one and only hotel on trips to Montreal since 2008. Over the years we have been spoiled by the wonderfully comfortable and convenient accommodations, and its truly superb restaurant. The included breakfast is graciously served from a very inclusive menu. Dinner is outstanding in every respect. This gem of a hotel and restaurant has retained...

Loved old Montreal! Stayed here 3 nights, spacious room and en suite! Lovely roof top seating area where we enjoyed a drink while taking in view of city. Included breakfast was very substantial with lots of choices and restaurant where it is served has a lovely elegant yet relaxed feel. Would definitely recommend.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
