A group of us assembled here to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of an operetta society we'd all started at a local university. Charming welcome from receptionist who could not do enough for us, once we explained that we should like quiet rooms - we were allotted 301 & 306 which are long spacious rooms stretching the depth of the building...

Great Location! The hotel is old but charming. The deal that we got was really good so it was worth the money. In my opinion full posted rates are overpriced. However, most importantly I would recommend this hotel to friends and family. We enjoyed our stay a lot. Our room was quiet and right on Sherbrooke. We did hear people...

My stay was very satisfactory. The room was small, yet perfectly adequate. The breakfast buffet had a wide range of options for all tastes and various dietary requirements. I was surprised that the hotel had no lift. A porter helped me with my bags going to my room, but I had to drag my suitcase from the fourth floor upon...

Nothing unexpected, as per all the negative reviews. The hotel is really clean, contrary to some reviews. The building is old so you do hear people walking upstairs, flushing toilets, walking in the hallway. I was in the corner "basement" streetside and had no big issues with traffic noise. The King Bedroom was quite spacious, the bed was quite comfortable...

The room was a bit small but more than adequate and comfortable for a solo traveler. The bathroom was very spacious. Both room and bathroom looked recently updated. Reception was most welcoming and helpful (I think her name was Joanne). I had only a small overnight case, so walking up to the top floor was not a big deal, but...

A stylish old-fashioned place to stay where breakfast is served in a dining salon while classical music is playing softly on the speakers in the background. The breakfast was good and we could enjoy it on little round tables with very comfortable upholstered chairs, or else we could choose the couches and coffee tables. The daily French and English newspapers...

This is a fine hotel. The rooms are decent with modern and/or theme appropriate decor. The staff is friendly and helpful. Overall, it would be among the best in Montreal except for a crucial but damning fault. There is no soundproofing. You can hear everything from just about anywhere in the hotel. I had to call the front desk at...

I was in Montreal for a two day business trip, and it was arranged for me to stay at the Chateau Versailles. I found the staff to be extremely friendly, and very helpful in making my stay as comfortable as possible. The room was clean, and tasteful. The internet service, which is free, worked very well. Given that it was...

We stayed at the Chateau for 3 nights in early February. The quaint hotel has 2 sections (from the outside it gave an appearance of co-joined older mansions) in the old building where we stayed. Across the street was the newer, sister hotel that had a fine dining Italian restaurant. Our room was on the same side of the building...

I've been a fan of this charming hotel for many years, first was a guest 28 years ago….This place is sorely lacking some TLC….I was originally in a front suite with fireplace, bay windows and King bed, the street noise from Sherbrooke was so loud that I got very little sleep. I changed to a smaller room on the inside...

Dear Ms. Catherine, Firstly, I would like to truly apologize for not meeting your expectations during your stay. As noted we are an older property, we do pride ourselves in our historical charm. We continuously up keep the hotel, but within the near future bigger and better changes will occur. I welcome you back in the future, to enjoy everything...

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
