My husband and I appreciated the friendly, helpful staff to get us acquainted to a new city for us. We walked the 30 minutes from the hotel into the old city, and totally loved the sights of every street we traversed. Our room, #10, was very quiet. Even though it was up two, steep flights of stairs and way at...

The small hotel lies on the north end of the Parc de la Fontaine. It is small and friendly with small and comfortable rooms. It has been renovated recently and is stylish. Included with the room is a very nice breakfast with fresh foods, not just the donut and coffee routine. Their kitchen is always open for coffee, tea, and...

Awesome location being across from park, walking, and Bixibike stations. Handy to get to all areas ... old town/old port/little Italy/transit. That being said, even though my wife and I are 60'ish, we used the Bixibike system a ton due to the great weather, convenience, low cost, and exercise involved. Just a lovely way to get around once we were...

This little bed & breakfast was clean, accommodating and comfortable. The staff was wonderful! And the breakfast was enormous and wonderful. They had such a variety of different things. If you're looking for a cultural experience this is the place to stay. If you're looking for the typical American stay you probably don't even belong in Montréal. I left my...

Our son and his girl friend have stayed here 6 years ago and had enjoyed the place. His recommendation was spot on. We liked the place which offered homely feelings, nice breakfast and availability of light snacks and tea, coffee any time. Staff was very helpful. Sometimes free parking can be a challenge, though paid parking is available on the...

If you like your Hyatt and Holiday Inn hotels then this may not be for you.... But if you want charm, character and great service then it's highly recommended The rooms are comfortable, breakfast is great....and little touches such as the open kitchen with complimentary snacks and drinks really help to make sure that guests feel at home.

Since this small hotel opened shortly before our first week-long visit to Montreal, we have stayed here every couple of years for 5 to 7 days at a stretch. It was charmingly decorated in bold modern individualized styles for each room. Located in our favorite part of town, providing gourmet buffet breakfast and good service. Prices, while high, seemed reasonable....

Dear guest, We would like to thank you for your confidence in the Auberge over several years. During your last visit, we had a problem with a water conduit in the stairwell. A 20x20 opening was made in the ceiling to let the affected area dry and to finalize the work. As with any older building or water leak the...

We stayed for a beautiful week in September and truly enjoyed every day. The morning breakfast has wonderful and tasty choices. The staff was helpful with fantastic restaurant recommendations, shopping, sites and always available for any request. We stayed in Room 21 with a large deck overlooking the park, we would recommend this room as the best in the house....

Look no further. I could write a lot about this lovely hotel, but all the other raving reviews present it accurately. It is in between 2 metro stops still in downtown area, but not a chain. Approximately a 15-20 min walk, but worth it. Large city park across the street. Little bench outside to people watch. The atmosphere is wonderful...

Not very fancy, but in a nice area of Montreal. As far as the rooms go....I would like to say that they are a bit overpriced, particularly for the weekend. At 198 dollars you really have a lot more choices. Unfortunately for us we were staying on a thursday too. I guess because of the Lonely Planets recommendations. The breakfast...

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
