My family of two adults, 9 and 12 years old stayed 5 nights there. The hotel is in the center of China town which is convenient for us to look around and shop. The staffs at the front were very kind and helpful. The swimming pool was pretty small as other visitors pointed out. The hot tub looks dirty but...

Clean, reasonably priced, good pool with nice courtyard, decent location. Pierre at the reception desk is incredibly courteous and exceptionally helpful. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and a great price since kids eat free. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

The room was really clean and spacious, with a nice sized bathroom. Only a 2 minute walk to old Montreal, and just across the street is the subway. The pool is small but a great hot tub and sauna. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You can't beat the price, I'm definitely coming again!

We arrived early and wanted to just see if we could park our vehicle and walk around. Pierre greeted us at the main desk and offered to check us in if they had rooms available and waive the early check in fee. He immediately found us a room then tried to find a better room with a view. Pierre was...

Great location right on the edge of Chinatown with a Metro station right across the street. Indoor parking. The Rooms were recently renovated and the staff was friendly and polite. Mattress a little firm for my tastes.

Stayed here during late march for the weekend and it was greater than expected. Rooms are modern with ample floor space (stayed in 2 queen). Close to many amenities such as the metro and china town. Walking distance from st catherines street shopping and the underground mall. Minutes walk to old montreal. Would highly recommend.

Great location downtown right across the street from the Metro (subway) and access to the underground city, and a very short walk to Old Montreal. Rooms are up-to-date and very clean. Beds were comfortable too. Every staff person we encountered was friendly and helpful. The pool was disappointingly small----- the pool was much smaller in reality than it appeared in...

We spent two nights at the HI. At first i was concerned with the location, thinking it was not central enough but it proved otherwise. Close to old montreal and it had plenty within walking distance in all other respects. The staff were super helpful in running up needed supplies. The lobby had a very calming feel to it. Hotel...

Front desk staff professional and friendly but others quite stuffy. Large fish pond in lobby with goldfish, which my kids were studying. Manager came around and asked kids to keep fingers out of the water. Restaurant offered kids to eat free with paying adults but no kids menu, and options were chicken fingers or pizza. When my daughter asked what...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighbourhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centres, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
