I am a platinum member of Holiday Inn so I have stayed at many in North America. This location is spectacular being a short walk from the older part of the city and a block from Chinatown which strongly influenced the design of the hotel. The building is older, probably built in the 70's but has a nicely renovated interior....

The hotel is great .. Many restaurants , we chose La capital a Mexican restaurant on St Laurent . It was delicious.... Only neg review would be the breakfast, it was awful, a total rip-off , cold and expensive. Parking was very convenient as well but expensive... That's Montreal

Stayed here 2 nights. The hotel is right in the heart of the Asian neighbourhood of Montreal with literally dozens of Asian restaurants and shoppes surrounding the hotel. The hotel offers all of the usual amenities including a nice restaurant in which we had breakfast, daily (buffet). There is a small bar but I found it odd that it had...

The location of this hotel can't be beat. It's directly across from the Place-d'Armes metro station. Getting to the hotel is very easy and there's a parking garage connected to the hotel with in and out privileges. The staff at the front desk were very welcoming and knowledgeable about where to go and things to do and where to go...

Actually I don't recall most of the stuff about the hotel, but it is in a good location for eats and was a good pre-cruise hotel for us. China town is close by and there is a restaurant inside the hotel. No complimentary breakfast. Our room was nice, but it did not have a room safe which I like a...

My husband and I have stayed here before. The location is central, located downtown in Chinatown. Nice lobby with a beautiful restaurant, bar and walkways with fish ponds. The room was very spacious clean. Keurig coffee maker if you choose to use it, but no fridge or safe like some Holiday Inns. Staff speak English and French and are very...

The hotel has recently been renovated and the rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. We were one block from Old Montreal, Chinatown and the metro system. IN fact we could see Notre Dame from our window. Their metro system entrance is also the entrance to the Underground City. The bathroom was good size and the water pressure very strong. We...

Stayed for 3 days in early September Pros: *Great location--the mass transit (Place d'Armes) is across the street as well as an entrance to the Underground city (complex guy-favreau) is half a block way. We were on a tour so only a two night stay for us. Busy hotel. Rooms were of a good size with a huge bathroom. Comfortable beds and apart from some traffic noise a quiet stay. Plentiful supply of towels and toiletries. Hairdryer and coffee machine (not my preferred location being situated in the bathroom!) Iron but no in room...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighbourhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centres, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
