I had stayed here several times in the past when it was a Hilton. Now it is independent and the new owner has been working on some facelifts. It is a truly remarkable property located on top of an office complex. It has outdoor ponds with waterfalls, beautiful trees and quiet seating areas to enjoy the tranquility. It is a...

Lots of fun activities throughout downtown old Montreal. Great food, people are very kind when if we don't speak French. Go to Notre Dame Basilica, say your prayers. it is soul moving. Beautifully soul moving.

Stayed one night in May. Room was super comfy and the location is close to everything on foot (old port, downtown, quartier latin, quartier des spectacles, etc.). Nice outdoor heated pool. The hotel is old, but well kept and clean.

I travelled from Ottawa with seven friends for an overnight trip to Montreal to see the Chagall exhibit and celebrate 40 years as a book club. Hotel Bonaventure was a wonderful choice... easy walking distance to museums and shopping, year-round indoor/outdoor pool, close to the train station and near the old port. The hotel itself is a delightful surprise. On...

I come to Montreal on business every month or do. Prices were high this time, so I tested the hotwire hotrate offer here (hotrate has given me some good hotels in the past). This was a massive miss. Hotel is terribly run down, poorly lit, badly laid out - it is supposed to be on one floor, but that is...

I spent a few nights at the Bonaventure during a conference. The hotel is in a good location. The access from the airport was easy. A lot of shops and restaurants are available nearby, at street level or in the reso. The hotel itself is one big concrete block and a bit of a labyrinth. The corridors are quite dark....

I am a single lady. This hotel (and the whole city) was a great choice. There is a Metro station in the basement and a bus station one block away. You can easily get anywhere quickly and safely. I did not eat here, so can't rate that. If I were to change anything, I wish there were more elevators. The...

Quirky set up with lobby on 10th floor and a maze of hallways and rooms. Pool looked awesome, but I didn't try it. In room massage available (again didn't try it). Lounge and restaurant ok but I would suggest go by off site. Conference facility was very good.

Location very conveniant. Rooms are good though they need an upgrade to state-of-the-art furnishing. Staff friendly and helpul. Fitnessroom small but modern equipment available. Outside-poolarea very inviting even in winter due to nicely warm water. Food very good, nice selection for breakfast. Would appreciate some European TV-channels. Not every room and some hotel-areas are barrier-free. Conference-services excellent.

We were at a tradeshow week of April 28th in Bonaventure (MCEE) and we booked our sales group for the stay. The service at the Bistro where we ate at the hotel during our stay was the worse we ever experienced! Knowing that there was a tradeshow in their facilities (as well as other meetings and shows I heard as...

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
