Room was clean, view was great, pool excellent, close to downtown amenities, bed comfortable. Hotel is somewhat dated, bathroom tiny and in good repair, but dated. Furniture in room and lobby old, chipped and stained (not bed - which most importantly was excellent!). Price was good for downtown Montreal but had to fight for a reduced rate otherwise the price...

My family like staying at this hotel because it is so reliable. It gets the important things right: the rooms are light and clean and solidly built and - crucially - they have good beds and are quiet. The service is friendly and the valet parking is one of the most efficient I have seen. These advantages outweigh the old...

Our room had a lovely view of downtown Montreal. Bed was very comfortable and the room was a decent size. Nice and quiet. Perfect location with metro directly under hotel and walking distance to Old Montreal and many nearby restaurants and shops.

Physically, the hotel amenities are as expected for a Marriott. Nothing surprising. Decent shower, comfortable bed, free morning newspaper. What puts this hotel over the average mark is the staff. Exceedingly friendly, accommodating, responsive to every request and inquiry (not that I had a lot, but their response exceeded expectations.) The hotel is a (very) short walk from the downtown...

Hi A L - thank you for your post. Indeed we are fortunate to have the employees we have. Their responsiveness to our guests makes a big difference. Sorry to read about valet parking. It is open 24 hours day - though recent construction n the area may have caused access problems, we should have been clearer in identifying access...

Pretty much what you expect of a Marriott hotel. Check in/out was quick and the concierge was extremely helpful. Everyone at the hotel spoke English, so communication was a non issue. Close enough to walk to the nightlife on Catherine street, but probably too far to walk from the old port for most people. There is a charge of $32/day...

I stayed here with family as we visited this place for 3 days. Property is nice and clean. Compared to Marriott Standards little dated, but over all good experience. Staff was friendly. Location is good. Road construction has some hinderance with Valet parking. Rooms were little small, but service is what you can expect from Marriott. Breakfast For members only,...

I have stayed at the Chateau Champlain a few times now. The hotel continues to provide all that you need. Nice large lobby - well staffed front desk. A bank of working elevators. As well as a good sized bae & restaurant. Enjoyed breakfasts & lunches and after conference drinks - all quickly served and well done. The rooms are...

We checked into Marriott Chateau Champlain yesterday (Friday). We've stayed here before and knew what to expect. Our last stay was great. As a Gold Member, I got a pleasant surprise for an upgrade to a Junior Suite. My husband and I were ecstatic, that is until we entered the room. It's a huge suite with somewhat of a Victorian...

Hello Merchandiser3 - thank you for your post - I do apologize we could not meet your initial room needs upon arrival, given our very high occupancy during your stay. You are correct, the suite you were assigned your first night is due for a renovation and I assure you plans are underway. That does not excuse the lack of...

This Marriott was central to several places and walking distance of restaurants and shops. Our experience at the Marriott began on the "right foot." The bellmen were very helpful and cordial. HOWEVER, when we first arrived, there were 4 representatives assisting at the front desk. The line was long and it took us over 40 minutes to check-in. At first...

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
