Perfect location for art museums! Definitely a unique place to stay--it felt positively European. Be sure and request a parking slot when you book, if you need one Staff was very helpful and kind. I'll go back!

Tucked right around the corner on a quiet street, you almost wouldn't realize that you are right off of the main drag of Avenue Sherbrooke, in the heart of Montreal. We got a room upgrade, because they were replacing the carpet in the entryway. The room - a suite, really - was on the second floor, and it was huge!...

Hotel Ambrose is a quaint hotel in what seems to have been a house in the past. The staff were very helpful and did not hesitate to answer any questions. Upon arrival I was able to find street parking which was cheaper than the prepaid parking fee we paid when we booked it, luckily they did were able to refund...

Hotel Ambrose is a great choice. I arrived after check-in hours, around 1am and there was someone who opened the door and was super friendly. The location is in downtown Montreal and you can easily walk about 2-3 blocks to the shops, restaurants and boutiques. Out of 3 nights, I stayed 2 nights at this hotel. The quality of the...

I came with my boyfriend to see the hockey game at the Bell centre. The location is really 15 mins, and 8 mins to downtown core of the city walking. Definitely would be great in summer. The hotel is charming and not cookie cutter. The staff are super friendly and helped me out with all my questions from parking to...

I only stayed one night but it was outstanding, given the price, downtown location, the quality of the rooms, and the customer service. As a total newcomer to Montreal, I spoke to Clémentine, the person at the front desk. She was very gracious, going the extra mile to point out all the must-see destinations, how to use the public transportation...

Hotel Ambrose is a great and reasonably priced hotel in the heart of Downtown Montreal. It's so convenient to get to all the main attractions such as Notre-Dame Basilica, World Trade Center of Montreal, Chinatown, and others. It's all walking distance. The best part is that it's surrounded by fun activities such as nightclubs, lounges, bars, etc. Highly recommended if...

Very central downtown location with parking available. Room was very nice and I would definitely stay here again. Only one slight disappointment was the continental breakfast. It was very minimal with bread, yogourt, and cereal. For Montreal, and the type of boutique hotel, I would at least expect also some croissants and some cheese.

Nice little hotel in a traditional Montreal house (or two). Bed is very comfortable and bath was enormous. It could have done with an extra rail to help to climb out of the bath. More towels would also have been good. Shower was hot, sufficient power points and an excellent serve yourself breakfast was included in the room rate.

This is a very quaint property and the staff was very helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious but one does need to be able to climb stairs. It is two old Edwardian homes that have been joined together to make the hotel. They have only four or five parking spaces for guests so be sure to reserve one. Once...

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
