From the moment we pulled up to the front door, till the moment we left everything was wonderful. The concierge Natalia was helpful with dinner reservations and where to dine. Location in Old Montreal is within walking distance of everything. The doorman was especially helpful. Would highly recommend.

Our friends chose this hotel for a 3 night stay and we were very happy with their choice! Our room was spacious with very comfortable bed and a well appointed bathroom with soaker tub. Very central to tourist attractions in Old Montreal. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance. This is a very nice hotel. Staff always at your side to open doors and assist with baggage or conciereg. Quiet room on courtyard 4th floor. Only thing was the staff kept knocking at the door asking if we needed anything. Make sure you put up privacy sign on the door. Close to all of old town. Lots of restaurants...

We chose Hotel Nelligan for it's historic and cozy atmosphere and it exceeded expectations. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff gave us a warm welcome on our anniversary, gave us their favorite room (#505), sent us chocolate covered strawberries, and recommend outstanding restaurants. The room's windows open to a view of the harbor, and both the room...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
