Its a gay dirty place, prostitutes running around, the place smells very bad, its a disgrace, there is no sign of a jacuzzi or a whirlpool.... Very disappointed, such a bad experience in Montreal, thank god we had friends here where we could stay.... I rather would sleep on the street than at this hotel. Very scary area, drug addicts...

The Hotel Dorion was like home away from home   It was my first time in Montreal, and based upon a friend’s recommendation, I recently stayed at the Hotel Dorion in the Gay Village and absolutely loved it!  It is in a great location near St. Catherine Street and across from the Papineau Metro station. My friend, who is a...

For a small quaint hotel, the Dorion is not only worth the price, but has gained my extended business through friends that visit Montreal often. The Hotel Manager, Joanne is so friendly, with a great sense of humor. She monitors guests daily and adds her own unique flair and comedy to make her guests feel welcomed and part of her...

I have stayed at the Dorion more than 20 times over the last 10 years or so and I keep coming back, indeed wouldn't go anywhere else in the area of the Village. Although it's only a two-star hotel and thus lacks some of the amenities available at larger (and more expensive) establishments, I find it economical, friendly, helpful, safe,...

I have not found better hotel hospitality and service from a smaller in town hotel since the original owner of Hotel Felix(he's no longer there & their horrible service prompted me to find Hotel Dorion). Hotel Dorion's Manager, Joanne is fantastic ! Since Hotel Felix has lost not only my business, but the business of many of my friends who come...

I booked this Hotel because I was looking for a Hotel close to the Gay village and this was the only Hotel available and bragged to be in the heart of the village. Well yes its in the Village but at the extreme end on a dark street. There is a seedy bar in the same building on the first...

My partner and I stayed at the Dorion for 2 weeks in June 2012. If you are looking for the Ritz Carlton, this is not the place. However, if you are looking for a small, clean and friendly boutique-type of hotel, this is the place for you. Because it's a small hotel, the staff feels more like family then receptionists...

After reading some of these reviews, I was a bit hesitant to book with Hotel Dorion, but the price and location made me curious enough to look into it. Glad I did! Hotel Dorion allowed me to book each night at a time (I planned to stay 4 nights in Montreal) so if at anytime I was not happy with...

Plain and simple: WHAT A DUMP! It's one of those hotels on a sketchy side street, with the front desk behind a glass barrier. The rooms smell, are very tiny, and need renovations. Not to mention walking down these hallways thru the laundry room, past some pathetic TV lounge etc. The only positive aspect is the location, but other than...

A hotel is a somewhere you go to feel comfortable during the overnight hours of your vacation/business trip or get away. In this case, Montreal for the weekend with my significant other. "Hotel" Dorion, is not a hotel. The only way in which it resembles a hotel is there are rooms with 4 walls made up of physical matter and...

Staying in Olympic Park & Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (HoMa)

Neighbourhood Profile
Olympic Park & Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (HoMa)
Named for the Olympic Stadium complexes built for the 1976 games, the Olympic Park and the surrounding neighbourhood of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (HoMa) make up an invigorated area dedicated to "Space for Life." Around the Olympic Village's arenas and stadiums, Rue Sherbrooke welcomes exploration of its sculpture gardens decorated in the works of Jean-Paul Riopelle and its museum culture headed by the historical Château Dufresne. Maisonneuve Park offers interactive experiences at its bio-dome, insectarium, planetarium, and botanical gardens. For a change of scene, the gentrified space along Rue Ontario Est is packed with the city's newest, edgiest cafes, where an imaginative, youthful crowd sips foamy cappuccinos. A visit here is incomplete without stepping into the vast halls of the Maisonneuve Market, with flower stalls, wine depots, and local produce.
