We recently returned from Montreal and a 4 night stay at the Kutuma. We were traveling with friends and we all agreed it was a good place to stay. The negative review about the noise level surprises me because that was NOT an issue with us and we all commented often how quiet it was. We are all in our...

I agree with all the positive reviews here - the room I had was clean, charming, and romantic. The African theme was minimalist - this isn't a Vegas version of a theme. Nice features of the room - dimmers on all the lights, even in the bathroom. Tea candles for added romance. The full kitchen and nice place settings. A...

Other than a 2-night stay at Hotel Kutuma I have never been to Africa! I must say I loved it, even though I did not think I would really go for a ‘theme-like’ boutique hotel. As you might imagine, the in-room décor comprised Africa inspired prints, bedding and furniture, but additionally impressive was the overall attention to detail in respect...

My husband and I decided to book a last minute trip to Montreal, and this hotel had one room left, a jr suite. I chose this hotel based on the reviews, location and the fact that it has parking (valet only, but that is better than nothing). We arrived at the hotel after a harrowing drive through downtown Montreal, absolutely...

Montreal was the first stop of our month-long honeymoon and Hotel Kutuma was the highlight. We wished we stayed longer then just the 1 night. We were upgraded upon arrival and found ourselves in a room larger then our apartment with an extremely comfortable bed, a large and wonderful bathroom with a two person jacuzzi and a full kitchen. The...

It is important to read the reviews to understand better what to expect from this hotel. It is ranked #17 of 169 hotels in Montreal at the time that I'm reviewing it. The name is probably of African origin as is the entire hotel theme. It is decorated with very good taste and the best overall term to describe this...

This hotel is perfect for a short or extended break. The staff were so welcoming and parked our car for us on arrival. Loads of nice resturants around and a short walk into town., The rooms are very well decorated and quirky with some nice added touches such as the coffee machine. I would highly recommend this place. Only drawback...

We mainly chose this hotel because of location, in the Plateau, as there aren't too many hotels in that area. The location is great, right on St-Denis which has lots to offer, and not too far from the eateries and bars on Prince-Arthur and St-Laurent. And it is within walking distance of a metro. We had a Junior Suite, and...

This little special hotel has unexpected amenities: kitchenettes, rainforest showers, in and out parking for the very reasonable price of $15 daily. There is no elevator, so just be aware if you do need one. It's right on St. Denis near the Sherbrooke Metro stop and easily accessible to a wide variety of sights and restaurants. The staff are incredibly...

A gem of a 4 star hotel close to downtown with lots of shops and restaurants close by. Lovely large room with seating area and kitchen. Reasonable rate with the only negative being that there is no elevator, but there are only 3 floors Snrs from Carrying Place, Ontario

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
