This hostel is located in the Upper Town part of Old Quebec City. You have to prepay with a credit card if you arrive after 5pm to check in. A little strange but not a big issue. You do have to pay again each morning if you wish to stay another night. When I arrived around midnight, there was no...

We were very excited when we arrived in the city and discovered that our hostel was perfectly located in the Old Quebec. We sent a mail 2 days before our arrival to ask to arrive later than 6:00 pm as we would be on the road all the day and received a very nice answer saying that it wasn't a...

Inquired as to high season/low season rates for room, was informed that low season starts Nov. 1, as opposed to October 16, as stated on web site. 50% up charge for asking a question ($50 vs. $75) pretty dang shady. Rates are rates, and I'm not booking myself into anything like that. Be advised, there are other places to go,...

The big thing of this place is the location: right on the old quebec, close to the cathedral of notre dame, chateau frontenac and all of the stuff at old quebec. The dorms are okay, you cannot expect too much from a hostel. The only thing I really didn't like was that the hostel front door is always open, even...

We stayed two nights there. We spent the first night in a dorm on the first first floor where the bathrooms & showers did not look very clean. We had to move up to the fourth floor for our second night, and discovered a cleaner and bigger bathroom. To be honest, I did not expect anything better than what we...

I stayed here for two nights recently, I wish I hadn't even stayed for one. The reception staff are the furthest from being friendly, in fact they are quite rude! I believe this may be due to the fact that I am an English speaking traveller and I do not speak any French. It became apparent that staff at this...

Horrible lack of respect from to their clients by a woman receptionnist. A woman receptionnist (never smiling at all) is terribly and horribly showing lack of respect to their clients. A client has been informed (a night before) that the breakfast is opened until 11h00 am on week-ends but another receptionnist (the bad woman receptionnist involved in this complaint), on...

The staff from Quebec are not friendly. Only friendly staff member I encountered was a man from Madagascar. The beds are so uncomfortable and smaller than a usual single bed. Bathrooms don't look very clean and the overall room security isn't fantastic either as you are not given a key to lock your room door. Location is great as you...

We went to this hostel in January 2013 The best of te auberge alternative is the location, in the middle of Québec city, close to the old part of the city and near all shops and restaurants. the room and shared bathrooms were clean. Not too much noise in the auberge. a really bad point was the temperature. It was...

Prices on Quebec are crazy high so don't expect to receive a king treatment by paying like that, but this place can by sure do something else. Beds too small and not confortable at all, not enough light connectors for your devices and weird smell. On the possitive side, the ubication is the best, you are just a few meters...

“There is no 'private bathroom'. If you're in a private chamber, you share a bathroom with the four other private chambers on that floor. It didn't bother me though, I never had to wait for it and it was always clean. But spending a bit more on a private chamber is the way to go!”
