I tried to cancel, the manager said I couldn’t because I booked on booking .com, she ran my credit card, and then said she couldn’t cancel because she had put it the system. And charged me, not sure what was correct.i left and they keep my money and I got nothing. Worse experience of my life!
On 21/08/2021 my family checked into a hotel with our two dogs. On 25/08/2021 my credit card was charged twice. One amount of $151.08 and another of $25. On the day that I checked out, I received a receipt in the amount of $151.08. I did not view the receipt prior to leaving the building as it was placed inside of an envelope. I called the hotel this morning and spoke to (who I believe to be) the manager about the additional fees. She advised of the $25 charge due to a towel that was stained with animal/human urine. This was absolutely not the case. The towel was used to clean herbal tea. At about 9:30 pm on 21/08/2021, I had gone to the front desk to ask for tea as well as a coffee maker (which was advertised as being an amenity included with the room, but was not the case). I was told that a coffee/tea maker could not be provided as they had limited amounts of them, and all were in use (despite being advertised as “in the rooms”), but was given herbal tea bags. At about 11:15pm, peppermint herbal tea was spilled on the dresser as a result of being given plastic water cups to use in the room. The spill happened on the dresser, which held the TV and cable box. As it was after the front desk had closed, it was cleaned with a towel to avoid any damage to the electronics or bubbling of the wooden dresser. It was not dark or black tea, but rather, lightly coloured herbal tea. Furthermore, I was charged $20 for each of my two pets ($40 total), when the advertised pet policy indicates that I should have been charged $15.00, stating, “Max of 2 dogs only are allowed for a non-refundable charge of $15 CAD for the first night. Each night after that is $10.00 CAN. Pet Sanitation Fee is $50.00 CAD if applicable…” When I called to discuss the issues with the manager, she continuously stated that the towel was damaged by urine or faeces and that she had taken pictures. As I tried to explain the situation, she became hostile and aggressive, and then disconnected the call. When I called back, she refused to acknowledge the inaccurate charges for the pets, did not comment on the towel and she yelled at me, stating that she would be contacting the police if I called back again as I was “harassing” her by calling the establishment. Not only was I grossly overcharged, I was treated with the utmost disrespect. I’ve contacted the BBB, Wyndham Corporate, and will be disputing the charges on my credit card. Avoid this hotel.…
The room was very affordable and reasonably comfortable. We thought the room smelt and were very disappointed that we didn’t get breakfast. If I could do it over again I would spend more money and stay at a better hotel.
While travelling across Canada, I phoned to find out if there was room for one and a dog. The reply was yes. Upon arrival, the door was locked. I rang again and the manager came and opened the door. She was very accommodating. To my surprise the room and bathroom were very clean. Not my experiences at any other Motel 8’s. I took a chance as I was tired and couldn’t drive any longer. I would like to thank Cheryl Carpenter for her kindness. I’m sure I’ll pass through Moosejaw again. Motel 8 will be my preferred stopover.
Although I had booked another hotel, this was also in the area, so I popped in to see if they had a room. Very friendly response. Then I went to the other hotel - receptionist wasn’t wearing a mask, and I saw what I guess was the table for the next morning’s breakfast. Neither impressed me, so I cancelled the reservation and went back. The room I was given was very convenient for unloading my cat and his gear. Breakfast was good and the young woman serving everyone was quick and friendly. Close to highway for a quick overnight when on the road.
