Great location, beautiful old character mansion, but compared to other HI Hostels I've been to it's not that clean (dirty carpets etc). Well organised as you expect from Hi and permanently staffed. Staff were helpful and available but had not done their research on the area - e.g. options for breakfast. Also, the heating is constantly on full blast and...

I stayed at the hostel for one night despite the negative reviews because it is the only backpacking place. I would not do it again. You are much better off with a campground, couchsurfing or even a motel! I payed 36,75$ incl tax for a 7bed dorm in the shoulder season. The house is a nice old house, but rather...

Very little kitchen with few ustensils available and in bad shape. Lounge is completely unpersonal, no atmosphere at all, it is ''cold'' and sovietic style. Furniture is very old and decoration is absolutely absent. Bathrooms are from another age... and miss intimacy. The stair outside the front door needs to be re-made because et seems unstable. Matress very poor. carpets...

Nice old characterful building, good location, nice friendly staff, cheap rates, cosy enough dorms with good locker provision, and everything seemed to work. However, staircases are awkward and showers are in the basement only. The communal facilities in the basement (kitchen, lounge/TV area, dining area and showers) are functional yet decidedly unappealing - they would have looked dated and institutional...

Rooms are on the small size. Certainly was not the cleanest hostel I stayed in on my 3 month trip. Showers are dingy and in the basement as was the kitchen, well appointed but needing a good thorough cleaning. My clothes came out of the washing machine dirtier than when they went in there - I mentioned this malfunction/possible drainage...

We arrived at 9am on a snowy morning and were allowed to check in right away. We had booked a two-bed dorm which was small but comfortable, with a bunk bed, desk and shelf-space.
