The InterContinental Sydney Double Bay is frequently praised for its plush atmosphere and stylish decor, with guests often mesmerized by the serene views. Despite the allure, some guests feel the hotel's high cost isn't matched by its amenities and services, noting occasional service lapses and limitations, especially during special occasions. The location is a hit, providing a peaceful haven with easy access to central Sydney. Cleanliness and room comfort receive accolades, although experiences with room quality can differ. The pool and other amenities are generally well-regarded, though space can be an issue.

I normally stay in the CBD and have never thought to stay this side of town. But I'm not tempted to only stay over here. I loved this hotel. Everything about it was fantastic. Check in and out was easy. The room was clean, large, comfortable. Amazing water views. TV channel selection was brilliant. Comfortable bed - unusually so for a hotel, comfortable pillows. Room service food was good, bar food and drinks were good and really nice atmosphere. Improvements - took forever to get a cab to the airport, not the hotels fault; some of the customers at the bar were rude and I felt sorry for the staff (and other patrons); room service -ordered a burger and fries, they didn't explain the burger came with fries (not mentioned on the menu) so gave me both serves, but a hefty charge. I will definitely be back.

We stayed here for 6 nights. Great location. Nice to see Double Bay back to its glory days. Comfortable bed. Lovely bathroom. Very clean. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. On the 4th night, we moved to a Bay side room which was quiet and really nice with an outside terrace area. The service was quite slow for a 5 star hotel but TIARA (front desk) provided exceptional service. She epitomises 5 star value and went out of her way to make sure we were looked after to switch rooms due to noise. Because of her, we will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Sydney.

We have just checked out after a week of pure bliss! After lockdown this was a much needed luxurious staycation. The hotel is located in a beautiful residential area by the water, surrounded by great cafes and restaurants. At night enjoy a drink at the stylish bar or dinner at the Stillery. Both thoroughly enjoyable.
Hotel has possibly The Best hotel gym in Australia (as far as hotel gyms go) with brand new equipment and hardly anyone in sight.
Service was incredible, anything we required was done or delivered to the room asap.
We had a Bay view room with two twin beds (double-double) which is a rare find in Australia (excellent for families, two small kids can easily share a bed). We booked through The Lux Traveller agency and got a complimentary upgrade. Very happy!
Highly recommend to include breakfast and parking in your stay. Sumptuous a la crate breakfast is served until 11am, which makes your holiday even more relaxing.
For warmer days you could also enjoy a rooftop pool with spectacular views and shortly with restrictions easing Club Lounge will reopen.
This is now my favourite hotel in Sydney - couldn’t recommend it highly enough!

I am a regular visitor to the InterContinental Double Bay. Being a local, I frequent the bars quite often and always recommend the hotel to friends and family. I've spent thousands upon thousands of dollars at this place over the past few years.

Since it was my birthday this week, I decided to treat myself to a staycation in a Bayside Suite and the whole experience went from bad to worse.

Firstly, the Bayside Suite is supposed to be 'better' than two of the other types of suites and is listed online as having water views "reminiscent of the Mediterranean". This is simply untrue. I also read on another IHG page that it overlooks the Marina, which is an outright lie. The view from room 328 is of other people's balconies, the tops of shops and a William Street apartment's terrace. I was incredibly upset as I was so looking forward to enjoying the water views as I love that part of Double Bay. Since there are only two of this suite there didn't seem like much point in complaining as a room change wouldn't have been possible. While the suite was large, the furniture is looking very tired and full of chips in the paint and pulled threads in the upholstery.

I had booked in for high tea at lunch time, which was a further disappointment. I wasn't offered a drinks menu and the food was just plonked on the table with no explanation as to what was on offer. When my tea was brought to me, there was no milk, and with the staff being unattentive I had to go and retrieve it myself. The food was ordinary; a mix of dry sandwiches, boring cakes and a chantilly cream for the scones that had so much vanilla in it it had turned grey. I left most of the food on the plates.

That night a friend met me for drinks before dinner and when he paid I thought the bill seemed a little high as we had been there during happy hour. I contemplated this and went back to check later in the night and it turns out we had been charged full price for the drinks, rather than the happy hour prices. These sorts of things really shouldn't happen and it just amplifies how sloppy the service is.

The room was so noisy and I slept no more than three hours that night. One positive was that it was exceptionally clean and I saw the housekeeping staff cleaning thoroughly on more than one occasion throughout the stay, particularly the door handles and door jams.

Upon check out I paid for high tea but my mother later informed me she had phoned up as a surprise to pay for it the day prior. They had charged her over the phone but not made a note on my booking, so not only was the surprise ruined, we were both charged for it! I've now been told a refund will take up to two weeks to show in my account, which is simply not good enough!

When my mother realised what had happened she went to the hotel to complain and we have now been offered a complimentary high tea, which I appreciate, however that stuff up was not the only issue.

I am so annoyed that I wasted good money on this hotel, especially when they lie about the suites on their website. If you are considering staying here, don't. There are far better places to stay in the CBD with guaranteed stunning views and if you shop around there are some amazing deals to be had as well.

This hotel seems rather overlooked in travel agents blurb; perhaps because it is less trendy than those in The Rocks. This is one reason why it is so great.
The location is great, in a quiet suburb, just yards from a lovely beech and shopping, and only a 10 minute taxi or boat ride to Circular Quay.
We arrived by car and were pounced on by the mostly friendly staff. Our car was whisked away and our luggage was in our room about 5 minutes later, after we had checked in. When we wanted the car, it was parked right outside, ready to go.
We had a room overlooking the bay (No 417), which was simply spectacular. I can honestly say we have never had a better room. Lots of space, huge bathroom, everything worked, and the small balcony added an extra dimension.
The hotel has a large lounge and bar, which was always busy enough and where you could get good food and goods service. Breakfast was simply incredible in terms of choice, and so so fresh.
There is also a lovely rooftop pool and bar; not tested as it was raining for our 3 days in Sydney.
Our stay was simply a delight.

We stayed at the Intercontinental Double Bay for my wife's birthday, and oh my God I was totally impressed with the hospitality! We've stayed at the Intercontinental Sydney a few times, IC Adelaide and now Double Bay! I have to say Double Bay has been our favourite and staff like Amber (reception) and Roman (restaurant) totally made it worth our while. I'll start with Amber - we were greeted by this lovely lady who just knew what looking after guests meant. She was so friendly and professional, so fantastic to speak to and looked after us on both the days with so much smile. It was a shame we couldn't see her actually smiling because of the mask! We checked out of the hotel but realised when we got home that we had forgotten the bouquet of flowers at the hotel. Amber not only called to let us know about it, she physically delivered it to our doorstep!!! YES, she went that ‘extra mile’… 13 miles to be precise!! So grateful for that, thank you Amber!
Then there was Roman from the restaurant. Roman was the most friendly, happy, knowledgeable and professional wait staff. We’re not difficult generally but due to our toddler, we asked for our table to be changed a couple of times so as to not inconvenience the other diners. Roman was totally understanding and patient and helped us pick the right table. We went with his suggestions for dinner and they were excellent choices. He not only knew about the food but knew how much to order so it would be enough for the toddler too. Not a single bit went to waste. Thanks Roman for a great night, your warm hospitality is something I even talked to my wife about after we went back to the room.
I really hope that the hotel has some recognition system to thank these two exceptional staff who made our stay so enjoyable! Thank you Intercontinental Double Bay.

We came here to overcome jetlag in peace and quiet. The hotel is excellent in a nice, leafy and very quiet area of Sydney. Perhaps too quiet as shops and cafes in the area closed very early. 10 minute(-ish) walk to the nearest train station, 5 minutes to the harbor with regular (if not frequent) boat service to Sydney harbor. The hotel staff were all very friendly. All rooms have small balconies which were a lovely extra few square meters to relax in and made all the difference. The roof pool area was really nice although the pool is quite small, but enough for a refreshing dip. Nice view of the area and double bay. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and service impeccable. Very happy to recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for our last night in Sydney before headed home and I have to say it was perfect. We had a 2x double twin bay view room as we were traveling with our 5.5 year old which was a great size with a lovely balcony which we were able to sit on and enjoy a glass of wine after she'd gone to bed.

The pool was great, although lacking shaded areas which made it a challenge at first.

The front of house staff were very helpful

There are plenty of great restaurant choices close by & we dined at both the Royal Oaks & an exceptional pizza restaurant - Arte Bianca

The room was beautiful and spacious with balcony looking over double bay waterfront. It is centrally located in DB - easy walk to the ferry wharf and all the restaurants/cafes/shoreline. The staff were all very friendly and helpful throughout the property (especially concierge and the cleaners).

The bathroom was large but was disappointed in how small the bathtub was (it wasn't inviting in the least, and I live for having a bath when we treat ourselves to a luxury hotel).

We were also given a twin-bedded room which was a waste of space and also didn't make it feel like they truly acknowledged we were there for a special occasion (I had to advise at time of check in it was our wedding anniversary).

They need more signage from the parking lot on how to get to the hotel (as the elevator does not automatically connect to the hotel entrance).

The bar is a very cool hangout to grab a drink or light meal. It has an elusive and exclusive feel to it - the manager there was very nice.

The poolside whilst lovely views, has limited deck chairs and the pool in itself can only fit a few people comfortably before you feel like you're invading each other's space.

The biggest downer was the fire alarm going off on our last night. It sounded faint at the first part so didn't think it applied to us, but when it did start on our level no advice on if it were a test or something was really wrong. There was no staff announcement or call to our room so on ere of caution we decided to go down the fire escape alongside a few other guests that were just as confused as us. By the time we got out the back and then walked around to the front of the hotel the firemen were leaving and hotel staff barely acknowledged the inconvenience or if it were a false alarm.

Whilst I am an avid IHG One ambassador, I did have higher expectations to be looked after much better during this stay. We have received better gestures of goodwill to more minuscule incidents when staying at sister properties than what we did on this occasion, so I can't say we will consider this property again in the future.

Dear charlene_veverka, Thank you for selecting our InterContinental Sydney Double Bay while visiting Sydney and for providing feedback about your experience. It's a pleasure having you as our guest. I am truly sorry you did not experience an exemplary stay due to the small bathtub and that there is not enough signage at the parking lot. This is certainly below our usual high standard of service. Please be certain that I have noted and forwarded your feedback for the management to improve. In the middle of your experience, I am glad our room's cleanliness and the hotel's location were still appreciated. Please grant us the opportunity to prove ourselves again. Best Regards, Ben W. A clean and well appointed Hotel that is really the only option for a 4.5+ stay in Double Bay. Central location means easy access to the shops and cafes. Staff very friendly (thanks Nicola). The roof-top pool/bar gets a good vibe in the later afternoons _ just need that pool water a little warmer. Pets seemed to be welcome and didn't cause any grief. Balcony rooms over the bay have a nice view. The high tea room needs a bit more 'wow' and the entrance is slightly underwhelming.
